Our dates and process seem a little different to some others, our MB seemed to initiate the Barclays hard credit search and then submitted the application after. Our MB has said we should get the mortgage without any problems, and has said our income has been satisfied, no issues there. We have no idea what this really means though!
We're waiting for our valuation to be booked in, and haven't heard anything in 3/4 days now, do Barclays underwriters check applications before instructing valuations?

I have no idea which order they do things in - but they appeared to be more secretive than others.
I would say believe your broker, he’ll have done the maths.
The fact that a valuation has been ordered is a good sign that you haven’t been rejected at the 1st hurdle
My valuation was instructed 24/07 - but was a desktop one so no idea when this was okd by underwriters and I had my offer on 10/080 -
Ive just submitted an application to Barclays via my MA. I originally went with Nationwide who downvalued the property. So I went with Darlington BS as I have CCJ for £297 which is 3 year old and settled 2 years ago and I started a new job 3 months ago as my MA was struggling to find a lender who's criteria I matched with. They came back and said I couldn't afford the full loan and offered 15k short. Which I found strange as I'm saving 1k a month at the moment and the additional mortgage payment would be and extra £300 to what I'm paying in rent. I tried to get a DIP with Precise Mortgages but they also said I can't afford it.
I almost gave up as my MA said they have reach the end of the road, but I decided to look around myself and got a DIP accepted with Barclays. I informed my MA who has now submitted an application today.
I've had a stressful time trying secure the mortgage so I'm praying that all goes well with Barclays I don't have access to trackit so I rely on my MA relaying information back to me but I'm so anxious!!12.11 Reserved Property

We are porting our current mortgage with Barclays and taking out extra to move to a bigger house. Unfortunately we had just agreed a new fix on our current property when the stamp duty announcement came otherwise we would've probably looked into a new lender. The rate for our additional lending is not great after Barclays multiples changed and they pulled mortgage rates, they would only do it on a 5 year fix rate of 3.30%, I think this is also because it's a smaller sum of money. Luckily our current mortgage with them (which is bigger) can remain on a lower rate.
Our DIP was 13th October
Full application was 20th October
They had all bank statements and docs by 23rd October when our MB advised that they were going to book a valuation.
Valuation was on 5th November
Mortgage offer given on 6th November - arrived in post 7th November.
Not yet received the valuation report though.
I've found the communication from Barclays to be pretty poor and Track It never works. It's been very confusing as on the 24th October track it said they needed more info. Obviously I knew the valuation was always booked for the 5th but this was never reflected in Track it and it still says nothing about the valuation even being booked. However an offer appeared in the post today, thought we would be waiting much longer.
We have just trusted our MB to keep us informed of everything and he's been very good really. Even he said they are one of the worst currently for information.

I only applied via a MB and on the same day a hard search was performed by Barclays. MA said i passed the credit checks. I was sent the illustrations and I signed the electronic documents via docu sign. All on the same day. MA was instructed by Barclays to send copies of my payslips. Is this normal all in one day?0 -
After preparing myself for four weeks of agony and reading all sorts of timelines with Barclays, pre- and post-Covid, I thought I'd share the following:
Friday 06/11, 15:00 MB submits application for AIP, approved online instantly.
Friday 06/11, 16:00 MB submits full application. At some point either for the AIP or the full application I got Credit Karma (TransUnion) notifications for a soft, then a hard credit check that have just been carried out.
Monday 09/11, 8:34 MB receives email that mortgage offer has been approved!
That must be some sort of record, and clearly completely automated, as no human will have looked over this. I suspect that in hindsight we were ideal candidates for their 5yr fix - perfect credit history, 210k deposit on 565k house for 63% LTV, 93k income before bonuses, and I think it is this missing detail that makes it really difficult to compare cases.
It also means that our MB was on the ball as much as I thought it was, and submitted our signed declaration and the correct supporting evidence right with the application. We originally were going to port with our current lender Accord directly, and we're still waiting for our first appointment with their mortgage advisor on 19/11!1 -
