Evening all
I have to make a confession- I ordered my first present for That Day yesterday! Saw some Father Ted stamps had just been released so bought them for my dad, less than £10. No idea about any other gifts though.
Got roped in to cover court duty on bank holiday Monday. I figured I might as well as I have no plans for the upcoming weekend other than horse riding on Sunday.
Today I'm grateful for a long walk this morning before the rain came; for more or less catching up on my outstanding work; for homemade apple crumble.5 -
Today I got a few bits done and off my lists. Accidental spend on two big mirrors from the local H0spice c/s. One up on wall already, other going up tomorrow. I ran in the rain (only 2km but I was blind as a bat with water running down... well, everywhere really!) Living room tidy and hoovered. Pencil cases and PE kits mostly packed. Apples stuffed and baked, apple pie baked, meringues in the oven now. DS4 made 'red spaghetti' for us all this evening. Pantry ordered, washing up done, all in all a very productive day. Will continue in the same vein tomorrow.

Morning all,
Spendy day yesterday but iv noticing my mindset change and I’m looking forward to today when I only need to pop to Asda for the items Aldi didn’t have. Then family round for a BBQ to show them where I now live and have a get together.
The rest of the weekend should be spent pottering and sorting out the house and back to work bits and pieces.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

I'm not naturally tidy so it is a big effort to keep my house looking presentable!
I met a friend yesterday and we looked round some possible areas where i may want to move to; was useful.
Today we are off to meet DD2's boyfriend's family in the SW for a meal out. First night away from our own house since Feb and i'm looking forward to a change of scene. Sunny day so i have washing on the line.
Gratitudes - friends - one who accompanied me on a grey rainy drive looking at possible properties; another who is looking after our cats while we're away; a third for helping me clear my garage including taking stuff to the tip and listing something on freecycle for me. Love my friends
Hope everyone has a restful Bank Holiday

Bit of a speedy day today. Went to the local butcher and got roast beef for dinner tomorrow. A request from the Boy for his birthday meal. Also discovered that the other butcher does packs so bought one which will probably do us till we go on holiday. Beef olives in the slow cooker at the moment. Gave us a bit of a walk as well.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.5

I had to spend just over £8 on purple pens, biros, pencils, protractors, and rulers today. Not impressed.I did avoid the 'new drinks bottles trap' because ds3 said 'we can use what we have at home'. That and he fancies a can at lunchtime (fizzy orange, not beer - he is 12). Starting to feel anxious about lunchboxes. It is a minefield, I tell you, a minefield! Just realised I am going to have to feed dh while he is working from home and the kids are at school! I am going to have to PLAN my lunches now. Not just eat whatever needs eating in the fridge.Grateful for: testing the heating out as it got a bit chilly this afternoon, all working fine for the hour. It was a TEST. Hopefully not a regular occurrence in AUGUST! But then again, this year, who knows?Baked apples for breakfast with a lovely filter coffee. Total pleasure. Utterly diet food.DS2 going and getting a haircut, after over 5 months of him looking like Shaggy from Sc00by-D00, and looking really gorgeous now, but far too grown up.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

We also TESTED the heating. Dh insisted on doing it. Driven by my showing him the renewed and rather large patch of damp coming down the wall... He has now discovered that the radiator in the study, where he does all his computer work and which is usually rather warm anyway, is permanently on the highest setting!!I refuse to let him do more that test it and try to dry out the damp...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

Oh no Apple! What is causing the damp? or is it.... a mystery?Did you let himself use the radiator keys and bleed them all first? It was cold today though.I would recommend a crumble and custard to warm the poor menfolk up. We do sound mean!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

We have a flat roof on top of the downstairs loo and the drain on the roof is on the neighbour's side. A few months ago, dh put a filter thingy over it, as they tend to throw things like fag ends, rubbish onto the roof, and a milk bottle top had blocked it. Resulting in a pool of water covering all the roof, and then the rain was splashing over the flashing and along the space (?) between the houses and into the hallway and down the wall. This time, it was bunged up with lumps of moss from the roofs/guttering, I think. Sigh. We need to replace the rubbish gutters (front and back). They run across 4 terraces with just 1 downpipe in the middle. Neighbour won't be able to help financially, but I've told dh we really need to get it done anyway, and suck up the costs. So it's not a mystery at all! Dh has been up there and sprayed some sealant stuff over the possible place on the flashing, so we hope that that will help prevent it happening again. We'll only know next time we have repeated downpours ...Today I am grateful for dh having the necessary stuff to try to fix the incoming water issue, for getting books to 0xfam and bags of unuseable clothes to the clothing bins, for dd's skateboard arriving (oh my! She was jumping around the lounge and squawking when it arrived!), for clean bed linen, for doing some sch paperwork.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5
