  • Hi mrsbirchy, this thread is up to date and going strong, tell the PDL you are escalating a complaint to the FOS and tell them what you are complaining about. The PDL may make you a good offer if not escalate to the FOS. Take a look at the DebtCamel website to give you more encouragement.

I know this thread is from last year.... i have had issues with payday loans in the past and i am now left with just one from 1st stop!!! ggrrrrrr I have been paying 7.50 a week for the last 22 months and so have paid £660 back ... i have asked for a breakdown of original loan etc and find letter before action fee £75 attachment if earnings letter £100 this was sent allegedly after i set a payment plan.... i want to settle this debt and feel the balance which is still 800 odd (i only borrowed 575) is extreme with these fees that have been added
    Can anyone help?

Go to all your payday loan companies and breakdown exactly what you borrowed, when you borrowed and how much interest was paid on the initial loan.
You can still make a complaint even if you have paid them off, or are still paying them.

Write to every single one of them. You maybe surprised at what you get back.

If you have any other questions drop me a message.

Can someone help me with Sunny please? I spoke to a helpful lady at Motormile Finance this morning and they've sent me a statement from Sunny. The interest charges are shocking and from the dates I had already declared financial difficulty to other companies (thanks kindly Lending Stream ;))
What do I need to say to them? I've evidence they didn't treat me well when I told them I was in difficulty but I did try to make payments for a bit. There's no evidence of any extra charges when I defaulted though. Do I just ask them for the interest I paid back?
    Thanks :)

Email this morning from Lending Stream. They've said no to the interest and charges but are offering to write off the balance. They did refer to a DCA but when sent proof of my illnesses and disabilities and proof of benefit they were sent back and have been on a permanent hold since. Should I dig my heels in and go to the FOS with it? They have admitted that it's up to customers to give them the right information and they don't actually check these things because I pointed out to them at one stage I didn't have my full income as I was off work sick but they didn't check.

The balance is very tiny, only £314. They are aware of the fact that these are unlikely to be repaid- with interest the charges are somewhere in the region of about £250. They have also told me that they turned down what they said were 'numerous' applications from me before they approved the ones they did which I would suggest goes to show my desperation and I have proved them utter liars about my credit score as I have counted six defaults on my report at the time of my loans with them being approved. I can and will provide this to the FOS. I requested the balances be written off anyway due to serious ill health and this was never done so I think I'm going to dig my heels in here, just for the principle of the matter- I can't see why they should be allowed to lie outright about this!

  • This is their first offer so you may be better off telling them you intend to escalate your complaint to the FOS, see what they come back with, Mrs Ryan. Hopefully you may not have to go further:cool:.

Thanks so much Delete, I was just going to go to the FOS. I will email them back saying politely thanks but no thanks and tell them I'm going to FOS. Should I mention about my credit file etc or leave that to FOS?
