Keep at it Ginger. Ice, BS offers. This is one of the lowest offers of compensation I have read about with your circumstances.
  • Just a quick thought i had whilst driving earlier… What about Catalogue accounts? I have an account with Very, and they were constantly increasing my credit limit without me asking and sending me offers… buy no pay in 6 months etc, when all i was doing was making the minimum payments. is it worth a shot to claim interest and fees back? they certainly haven't helped my financial situation, and i think my first payday loan was to pay them with.
  • Just on the phone to Wonga - they have updated my contact details and will now be able to process my complaint. Lets see what happens!

    Hi

Im looking to try and claim back some of the interest and charges from the many payday loans that I have had over the years but was just wondering about where I would stand with this.
Obviously I was desperate for the money and the income and expenditure forms I filled in for these loans were obviously very economical with the truth about my income and also expenditure.
Does this mean I would have a chance of getting something back as obviously the correct affordability checks etc were not carried out?

Whey Eye Bear04 go for it, you have paid extortionate rates of interest so complain to the lender.
  • Lending stream replied with a very lengthy "No" along with what my credit score was.

I have responded asking them to reconsider otherwise I will escalate to the FOS with a £550 charge.

Just wondering if anybody else has received a similar responses from them and if this was just a semi automated response?

BS from Lending Stream, just tell them you are escalating your complaint to the FOS. No such thing as a credit score, if they are the co: can not view it anyway.
  • I am so glad I have found this thread!! Since reading all the posts (twice) I have sent complaint emails to quick quid, wonga, lending stream, cash genie, myjar and sunny.

Quick quid have responded initially with the generic 'credit report check' email and then today with 'please allow 8 weeks' for us to review your complaint fully. Account ran with them 2010 - 2012 now in DMP with Payplan since 2012 STILL £650 outstanding!! Was very shocked when I added everything up! Over 12k borrowed  and just over £15k paid back with £650 still outstanding!

Wonga same timescale and very similar figures. Defaulted after 2 years and entered DMP £1000 balance. This was written off by wonga after 6 months. No response from them as yet.

Lending stream again same timescale (very tough 2 years!! and much the same figures...currently with Payplan £250 remaining. Received a lovely email from them apologising for my need to complain, and that they were gathering info in order to deal with my concerns. I think I was naive to think this was positive.....assuming this will be the start of the 8 week wait.

Sunny, myjar and cash genie were all lower amounts sunny and myjar were included in DMP now paid off. Received email acknowledging complaint and again gathering information.

When I checked the accounts they obviously have income details however there is now also a section for expenditure - these are all blank - as I was never asked for these. This must be a positive for proving inadequate affordability checks?

I am astounded (and embarrassed) at the amounts borrowed...and more so paid back! I have no idea how I managed to sustain this for 2 years :eek

Good luck to all waiting to hear back, the next 8 weeks are going to feel very long for me!
