In terms of the issue with some customers only receiving half their blue rewards entitlement this month, the issue is still ongoing, and is going to take up until the 16th to identify all affected customers and correct their entitlement.

What about asking for compensation. Has anyone tried it. In the past Barclay was very generous in paying compensation
    Seriously?
£3.50 paid a few days later than normal. To what extent have you suffered because of this?

Cant put a price on the shock value of receiving less then what was expected. At first i thought i had done something wrong, like missed a DD payment.
    Shock value   :D
What are you like if someone sneaks up behind you and shouts BOO.

The price I would put on it is zero.

My missing reward was paid 2 days ago.
  • Hi everyone, Just started a mortgage with Barclays and have been looking at this blue rewards. So am i right in saying all i have to do is pay in £800 a month, have 2 DD coming out  and i will be charge £4 for the blue rewards but also get £7 from having 2 DD's and a mortgage? Making me £3 each month?

If i pay in my mortgage along with enough money to cover the DD and the £3 charge is there any anything wrong with transfering the remaining money back into my original account?
  • Also i take it i've missed the boat on the double rewards for switching? I can't seem to see it anywhere.

You get £3.50 for each of up to two DDs, plus £5 if you have a residential mortgage https://www.barclays.co.uk/current-accounts/blue-rewards-terms-conditions/

As you have said above, you must pay in £800 a month to qualify for any rewards. What you do with the £800 once paid in is entirely up to you.

The switch reward offer has expired for now for new switches. Worth keeping an eye on whether they'll be offering it again.

You're getting £12 in rewards ( £3.5 x 2 for direct debits + £ 5 mortgage ) and you'll be charged £4, so you'll be £8 better off. I'm in the same boat, except I use Barclays as my main account. You don't have to use it as a main account though.
  • Brilliant thanks yous very much for the reply's @birdofpassage and @colsten. I took it as it was capped a £7 for the rewards. So as you say @birdsofpassage i will actual be £8 better off.

I'll wait till my DD have gone out at the start of next month with it being so close and then i'll set-up a bank acoount with barclays and the rewards. thanks yous

Hi, looking to open an account with Barclays and the blue rewards, i was leaving it till all my DD are out here at the start of the month then going to set up to cover putting the £800 into the account and set up the DD for next month (NOV).

But wondering what way the blue rewards work? i'm i best to start the blue rewards at the start of next month also as i'll not have the money going in or the DD coming out till next month? Hope this makes sense (another words just just want to pay the £4 and not get the rewards for it)

How Blue Rewards works is all explained on Barclays' website:
    https://www.barclays.co.uk/current-accounts/blue-rewards/
The monthly fee is taken on the second working day of each month, so if you're worried about them taking the fee before you've been able to set up the direct debits etc., just make sure you join Blue Rewards after the second working day of the month.
