Read the TELEPHONE HEARINGS thread.  No link given - search and ye shall find, and that's the way to make best use of the forum.

That will get you up to speed, along with the TEMPLATE DEFENCE sticky thread which shows you what lies ahead.

A court claim pack from the CCBC in Northampton comes long before any court date , you won't get a court date until after a claim has been commenced

If you are getting debt collector letters , you don't even have a court claim , so won't get a court date because there is a process they follow

So await a court claim pack from the CCBC in Northampton , that comes first , meanwhile read the Newbies FAQ sticky thread near the top of the forum , second post

This still isn't settled. Everything went quiet so I assumed they'd dropped it, I moved house last July and immediately put a redirect on the post.
Heard nothing until a few weeks ago when I get a 'Judgement for claimant in default' from Northampton courts to say I have to pay the claimant £107 costs and £160 for the debt. Yet I've never been served court papers. Should the courts have sent me a date for my day in court? I never received anything.

So I write to ask for it to be set aside and explain why. They write back saying they cannot process my application until I pay them £275  :/
They say it can be discussed on a phone number that no-one answers, that I can email them to discuss it, but there is no email address supplied. I go online and find a general enquiry email and explain the situation. I get a 'We have received your enquiry' type response then nothing for over a week.

So now all I can think of is to write back to this bloke in the fees section and ask how I can discuss it with them.

This is how these parking scammers get paid, it's actually easier and cheaper to just pay their scam money than fight it.

It is not a fine, but VCS have form for issuing PCNs to motorists waiting in a queue to get into a car park at this airport, (VCS lost in court) stopping at a STOP sign, (PCN cancelled on complaint) stopping at a roundabout GIVE WAY sign, (VCS lost in court) and issuing them to vehicles stopped outside the No Stopping Zone and outside the area where they are contracted by the airport management company to operate. (PCN cancelled at IAS appeal).

Sadly VCS still issue PCNs to all and sundry, often whilst their camera van is stopped itself. Many people just pay up, and due to judge bingo or poor defence or ignored claims or default judgments, they still reap thousands of pounds from motorists.

The foreign airport landowner doesn't respond to complaints, and the airport management company sides with VCS.

There is a section on set asides in the second post of the NEWBIES. You can ask VCS in writing if they would set aside with consent, otherwise you will need to apply for a set aside without consent which will cost you £275.
Ask the CCBC what address they used to serve the claim.
Did you inform VCS of your new address for service when you moved home? I suspect not which is why your previous address will have been used, the only address VCS had unless you told them otherwise. They are not allowed to ask the DVLA a second time, but they should make best endeavours to trace you if they get no response at the last known address.

Did you complain to your MP and ask them to forward your comments to the MP responsible for the airport?

I can't really see VCS saying yes can you?
No I didn't inform them of my change of address. Think about it realistically, if someone is trying to scam you out of money would you write to them to tell them where you lived when you moved? I have a postal redirect so it all should come to me anyhow.
No I didn't complain to my MP, I didn't see the point in wasting my time and as we were moving wouldn't have even known which one to complain to. We didn't even know where we were going to be living for 14 months.

I do apologise for the tone, it's the system which is at fault and not you. Thanks for your reply, it is appreciated, but as far as the NEWBIES are concerned it's a case of reading a 1000 post thread, finding most of it doesn't apply to you and there being only 3 posts in there which are of any use. It's as tedious reading all that flannel as it is for you to be reading another repetitive thread believe me.
Given the fact i've moved i'm tempted to let it carry on anyhow.

The Newbies thread has just 5 advice posts:

    1 - appeal stage
    2 - pre-action and court
    3 -  POPLA
    4 - ignoring debt letters
    5 - complaints to DVLA/BPA/IPC and acronyms

I don't know how to make it any clearer and no-one has to read the first, third or fourth posts if they have a court claim.

It is a thread that has to cover every scenario and stage.  It works for most, and worked for you but no-one with a live court claim should ever decide not to tell the court they'd moved, halfway through the process.

This is unheard of and not something we could have anticipated or prevented, sadly.  A Defendant should of course tell the local court if you move house half way through a court claim you are defending.  If was never just going away, merely delayed by Covid.
