This is what I find just bizzare, the solicitor has been given the same bank statements as nationwide, weeks ago as of yet they haven't mentioned anything about the deposit, we checked with them that all was ok and and if they needed anything and they said no, didn't mention anything about it.  The money can be traced not easily but it can be. It would require 5 years of his bank statements that show cash sums being removed from his account. And we could track back and explain them all, Every month, This money was placed in "safe at home" then in the last year due to pandemic really the cash was transferred direct to me. He has earned extra by selling a few cars not enough to be a trader but enough to add a few extra pounds to the pot. I think it's time I accept the inevitable, and just admit defeat.  All this stress has seriously dented our relationship. I honestly I Just don't understand why MA, didnt say this would be an issue months ago. We are  First time buyers, we had no idea
No one on here can say if it will be ok or not, best thing to do is just wait and see what Nationwide say.
I did however read this link which mentions Cash Deposits so would have thought your MA or solicitor may have mentioned something about it potentially being tricky:  https://www.onlinemortgageadvisor.co.uk/deposits/proof-of-deposit-for-a-mortgage/
But as you said, you can prove it through past bank statements- so just keep your fingers crossed.
Also don't let it impact your relationship- its not worth it! You will look back in a few years time and think it was stupid to argue about. It's just a house and there will be plenty more out there, so if worst comes to worst, just see it as a learning curve and chat to your MA about next steps.
Hope it all works out :)
Thank you. My partner isn't as good with money as I am, it is just not his strength and when the ma called to alert us to this problem he spoke to my partner in work. So When my partner told me what was said I lost it a bit. If I was the bank I would not just accept the potential borrowers word. I mean come on, if they are asking the same question again they clearly want more they a say so. I must be thick, because I would have thought the ma would have asked if there was any evidence, to strengthen his word, but no, the ma has just written a statement lol I rolled my eyes and we argued. It's been a long few weeks. Expecting a no now. Thankfully We are not homeless so looks like our rental is going to get a face lift next week

Here we go then, working day 36. Might even get a valuation this week  :D
Day 39 for us! Good luck, let's hope this week brings some good news for all of everyone!
Day 37 for us! Found out the only reason we didn't hear back on Friday was because our adviser added a note to our application which pushed us to the back of the queue again.... so infuriating.

    Good luck all!
I feel your frustration. Did you call NW directly? I'm so tempted to call them, but have read on another thread that bypassing the broker and going straight to the lender might confuse things. We're so close to getting an answer, but it still feels like it'll never come!
Ive been on the online chat to Nationwide, it may be different to on the phone. The advisor there mentioned they had read only access.so i dont think they could amend anything Although to be honest they didnt actually provide anything useful.
I decided to bite the bullet and call NW. Apparently the docs and answers to required info wasnt uploaded by our broker until last Tuesday (despite providing 5 days before) and our application has only just been sent to the underwriters this morning, who have a 10 day lead time. So not expecting to get an answer until the 19th Oct! 🤯🤯🤯
So frustrating! As you'd have been half way through that process now. Hopefully it wont take as long theyre quoting. Its just a never ending process.
Finally after 38 WD - we got the text through to say our offer has been issued! Such a relief! 😁
    Congratulations!!
    Nationwide FTB 90%LTV
    Full applications 26/08
    Valuation booked 26/08
Hard Search (equifax & Transunion) 04/09
    Valuation completed 8/9
    Valuation approved 30/9
    More documents requested 30/9
    Mortgage offer 16/10
  • My timescale so far is:
    01/09: application submitted
09/09: documents received and passed to underwriter.
    10/09: hard search
    21/09: valuation booked
22/09: valuation complete and report received and under review.
    Latest updates:
    1/10: down valuation
5/10: vendor accepted valuation, updated loan to new amount and told it would be 8 days before I heard back
    6/10: mortgage offer issued.
After being ready to sack it all off when I received the down valuation, I can't believe how quickly its then got to offer.
I am getting a home buyers report privately so assuming that doesn't say the house is about to fall down, it looks like everything will be going ahead.
    Good luck everyone.

So I had a text saying that the valuation was booked for yesterday morning, confirmed on the tracker. Spoke on webchat and they said it had a note saying it was on hold. They told me to ring NW this morning and chase it up. Rang NW this morning and they said they "can see it on hold" but they don't know why. They asked if I would like the phone number for the surveyor to ring and see why it was on hold. I rang the surveyor and they said "it isn't on hold", would I like them to ring the estate agent and book the valuation today. I kindly said, yes.
Seems like sometimes, you just have to do the jobs of others to get things done. I wonder how multiple little things like this affect the timescale of applications. Makes you wonder.
Let's hope they have been able to book it!

Yeah so I've gone through a mortage advisor and as fas I'm aware I've hone through the underwriter stage. It just seems to be the valuation that's an issue. The seller is desperate now as well so I know it's not an issue from that end either.

I finally have a week day off work Friday so am going to ring then if I hear nothing else before then. 😬
