Okay just check yourself that immersion is definitely off? People sometimes forget?xlnc99 said:On a separate note - which we will i am sure get to later, how on earth is my parents credit only £170 pound when they been paying through the roof for the DD. I calculate at least 1k and this is without factoring in the high charges they got throughout the year for which i believe were in correct.
Again this comes back to what readings have been used? Can you please post the current readings for both gas / electric and also what readings your parents have being giving or receiving? As far back as you can, estimated, actual etc? From their account?

Surely the tariff isn’t really that bad, it’s the consumption that’s the problem. Had the cost per elec unit been around the 16p mark then yes but 1p per unit over 8000+ units consumed is ‘only’ £80. Drop a few thousand of units off that total and then you’re talking proper savings. Not dismissing the savings to be made on the tariff but surely the main problem here is excessive consumption.Gerry1 said:Two problems instantly jump out from the bill screenshot.- The latest reading is Estimated.

Well, it's a dreadful gas tariff at 3.15105p per kWh and daily charge of 20.5485p inc VAT. Unfortunately, being on an expensive tariff means that you have to put up with expensive bills. With their annual consumption of 28390kWh, that equals £969.59.
In my area with Robin Hood / Ebico that would cost £679.34.
It's just like buying petrol on the motorway because it's convenient and then wondering why £10 only activates the pumps for a few seconds. The answer is to look up at the totem. On the motorway tonight it said 133.9p whereas locally it's 108.9p. If your parents want lower gas bills they need you to help them to compare and switch.I'll dig a bit deeper when I have a moment.1 -
It's both. Would you choose pay 'only' £1.60 per litre for petrol when you could pay £1.21 ?tim_p said:
