    Hi guys!
So we had our application sent off 11th Dec.It is saying they will take up to 7 days to do the initial review. Now i am a first time buyer so this is all new to me! We have no chain either end so they have told us could be 6/8 weeks until we move in all being well! Looking at these comments looks like just the mortgage offer will take that long! Does anyone think we will get our valuation in before Christmas? We haven't heard anything re valuation or initial review yet. My MA says she doesn't want to ring as they have told her not to?! Should i just take it upon myself and ring them?! Or should i give them the 7 days then ring? As i said im new to all of this, never done it before!
Do you know if your property is a desktop valuation or will need an in person valuation? Our paperwork was in early October but valuation didn’t get booked until 19 November (ish). That said, I’m porting my mortgage and I’m an existing customer. From these comments it seems that new customers come first so you might well be ok (wouldn’t necessarily take into account the timelines some of us have been facing). There’s no harm calling up and asking for an update - just a heads up the people that answer first line calls don’t seem to know much and have to ask applications. They can check to see what stage you’re at though. Love how I was first told six to eight weeks - then I’ve been told ten to twelve weeks but others are still being told six to eight weeks. A lot of people have had a better experience so don’t feel too disheartened. If I was having a good experience i probably wouldn’t have commented on here because I’d happily have my mortgage offer and I expect there are many people like that. Although frustrating it’ll be ok :) I would wait to Monday and call (aim to call at 9am to avoid two hour hold/wait times).

Hello. I just applied for a mortgage on 7/12/20 and had valuation yesterday. Now just waiting for the offer! You should get your valuation through next week fingers crossed!
Oh brilliant.. We have just had an email back with 3 queries about my bank statement, nothing too dramatic its just me moving money from savings. I have sent off my answers and they have said our valuation has been instructed :) Not sure what date though.. hopefully before christmas!

I have no clue whether its desktop or in person! I hope desktop as im guessing this is a lot quicker?! I did think that, you often dont see good reviews only the bad ones.. thanks for your reply!!
  • If this is helpful to anyone, when I phoned Platform today I was told they're up to applications submitted at the end of September in the queue (not helpful) and have recruited 14 more agents to handle the backlog in the last week or so (more helpful). So if anyone has applied recently, hopefully they should get a quicker result. It's no good to us as we joined the queue on 6th November (porting and borrowing more). I assume this is the porting queue as I've been told they have a different department for new applications (I have also been told it's all the same queue but my MA's contact at Platform told her it's a different queue/process).

We'll still be cancelling but I'm leaving our application to chill in the queue a bit longer just whilst we get a bit further with our application with the Leeds (they've already asked for documents and the signed customer declaration after less than a week, which is further than we've got in 6 weeks with Platform! It's nuts really).

Hope that's helpful to someone on here! :)

What time did you call and how long did it take to get through?

End of sept? That’s ridiculous!!!..we are just waiting for our buyers whose MA put them with Platform...new application..applied on Oct 27 and still waiting too...hope they realise they could cause properties to fall through with the amount of time they are taking..
  • Glad to say we got our offer today, was waiting on a date for valuation however it seems to have been done already. Application went in exactly 18 days ago.

I called pretty much bang on 9am this morning (9.02 I think) and got through straight away. That's happened a few times when I call at that time so would recommend.

When the (very nice) guy checked for me, I literally just started laughing! It's either that or cry. It's just insane.
