TUI are using the closure of the credit card as a money grab they know by giving members only 2 months to claim points that most of us will not travel due to CV19. This lets TUI pocket the points and not honour them.
  • TUI formerly Thompson are the tightest firms in the holiday business. We have been on 30+ cruises and holidays. Not even a sniff at a loyalty bonus unlike other cruise company’s. The to my amazement a cash back credit card (be still my beating heart). , wow. Calm down.. Not so good as you have to spend your money with them to get it. Then they withdraw it before anyone can use the points (COVID). After all the farting around getting one in the first place. TUI you are a disgrace.
  • I was just thinking... this verges on some sort of SCAM. They set up a card. Charge millions of ££s for its use in retailers fees. Hand out points that cannot be redeemed. Then close it. Surely a scam if ever I saw one.

Only on the basis that scam doesn't seem to mean what it used to.

Unless of course TUI set up all the credit card agreements and loyalty point schemes, knowing full well that they were going to release Covid-19 into the environment and wriggle out of their liabilities?

I've never been one to defend TUI, or its antecedents - but it was a loyalty card, not a cashback one - and it wasn't withdrawn before anybody could use it.
We've had a couple or so "nice little earners" from TUI over 10 cruises - if memory serves around £25 to be spent on goods or services onboard.
    Voucher was waiting in cabin.
There never appeared to be any logical reason why we benefitted and others didn't though - which is pretty much indicative and consistent with their approach to joined up thinking.

Oh look, the "scam" word has been trotted out. Took longer than I expected.

Not a scam but certainly really poor customer service to withdraw the earned benefit at short notice at a time when they know that hardly any of their customers will have a chance to use it.

What do the T’s and C’s say about withdrawing offers and point redemptions?
