NewDay TUI Credit Card closing

Again, makes no sense. It's a credit card that rewarded loyalty. You spend on it and they give money off TUI vouchers.I've had £500 in one year before, granted I put all my spend on the card to test it but now I don't care so much.£500 off my holiday was great. Can't complain.0

Just a thought, i have 23968 reward points, could i buy a gift card from a tui travel shop or online for £200 & when the transaction goes on my credit card, the points will go against that transaction. Or can the points only be for holiday booking or flights. Would be interested to know. Thanks0

I'm really surprised that Newday aren't contacting Tui card holders and offering a replacement card account in its place, possibly with some sort of gesture to compensate for the annoyance.1 -
I would assume that TUI are not benefitting much from the hook up with NewDay, hence the decision to terminate the card.They should not have put a definite end date on using accumulated points though - could easily have extended then for 3 years, for example.1

I have a copy of the contract that states the rewards should be used within 2 years of earning them, for me that will mean I have until July 2021 to spend them0

I was thinking about this recently. I have a holiday booked for next year with tui and i would normally pay with the credit card about 6 weeks before and then pay the entire balance when the next statement came. If i was to pay the balance now on the card do you think i could then transfer the balance to one of the cards offering 0% on balance transfers for say 20 months?0

If memory serves, the attraction of the TUI credit card when introduced was the % fees for bookings of their flights, holidays and cruises - whereas they imposed a 3 (?) % fee for using any other CC to settle the deposit or balance.When the government legislated for the (long overdue) abolition of card fees in early 2018 the TUI card lost its appeal to most punters - except customers who had accumulated a decent number of loyalty points to cash in.Once points were used up there was little to be gained retaining the TUI card in comparison to other reward or cashback card deals - so they were ditched.Of course my recall may be flawed !!!1
