Some of the approved installers I've contacted have been requesting £100 fee for doing an assessment in order to give a quote, which is non-refundable but credited against the value of the work if you proceed with the relevant installer. Hard to tell if this is their standard practice or if they're thinking they need to get something out of all of the people looking for quotes right now.1

So will they fund the full amount in our case ?0

- Insulation, including solid wall, cavity wall, underfloor, loft or roof insulation.
- Low carbon heating, such as air-source or ground-source heat pumps, or solar thermal systems, which provide renewable ways of heating your home.
For all of us, again I say, we cannot afford it.
I was prepared to go for it, but when they announced that tie in a few weeks ago it's another useless scheme for normal hard working people. We need this to be the original contract. This will cause companies who have built up stock to go out of business.

They really don't seem to have thought this scheme through very well. We live central to the country, in a town of 100k with three large cities within 20 miles or so. There are about 5 installers within a 30 mile radius. I can't even get an answer about getting a quote from any of them, but that's hardly surprising with a ratio of several hundred thousand potential customers to each installer.I don't know if I'm misunderstanding this, but the site even seems to suggest only a couple of hundred installers across the whole country. With 600k grants being talked about I really can't see how so few installers can do a few thousand jobs each.2

Have filled out several pointless questionnaires on the SEA site but cannot find any information regarding approved installers. The Gov website says SEA will suggest approved local installers but it doesn't as far as I can see. Anyone have a link or better yet a link to a simple list of approved installers that I can contact myself?
Edit: never mind, I found it here:

In this government page https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-the-green-homes-grant-scheme there is a list of Primary and Secondary measures that are eligible for the scheme. In the same page, there's a PDF document with 'clarifications' last updated on September 4th: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/914892/Consumer_additional_information_0492020.pdf
In this PDF document it mentions that "New underfloor heating" and "New high capacity radiators" ARE COVERED under the scheme. I've not seen this mentioned elsewhere.
Is new underfloor heating really covered? Is this in primary measures or secondary measures? In the PDF it is mentioned under the title "Low carbon heating" which is the title of a primary measures category.
I guess the question is, can the grant be used to install new underfloor heating, without doing additional insulation and without installing a heat pump or solar? Really confusing.
Also I doubt any of the TrustMark contractors in the scheme really installs underfloor heating. Not sure how this will work in general - do I have to get quotes from various contractors, e.g. one for insulation, a different one for double glazing? Or should ALL primary and secondary works go to the same contractor in one offer/quote?0 -
