I got a parking ticket after parking infront of my garage....

Good afternoon all,
I am new to this forum, so apologies if this has already been covered, but I could not find an answer so made my own post.

I have been parking infront of my garage (which is closed off from the road) without any issues for about two weeks. Previous to this, my children’s father has done the same for months and never received a ticket. I have never applied for a permit because I have not owned my own car whilst living here, so I am unable to apply.
As mentioned, I have been parking here with no issues for about two weeks now and all has been fine — beside a neighbour piercing a tyre!
This morning I found a parking ticket of £100.00, due within 28 days, reduced to £60.00 if paid within 14 days.
I was unaware that you could get a parking ticket whilst parking infront of garages. My garage is not the biggest, so the car cannot fit inside, hence why I haven’t parked inside.
Can I appeal this? It’s a CPM (UK Car Park Management) ticket.
The reason for the ticket states that I was not displaying a valid permit.

It’s a residential area and the parking restrictions are permit holders only between 7PM - 7AM.
Some advice would be great please, as I want to know whether the ticket is valid before I make payment.
Thank you in advance

Please show us a picture of the sign.
It sounds like it is forbidding parking for anyone other than those displaying a permit.1 -
You realise this isn't a real parking fine and UKCPM are ex-clampers and easy to beat in court?
Read the NEWBIES thread and all the other UKCPM threads - we have hundreds. They ruin people's lives. Are you a tenant of a flat? What does the tenancy say about the right to park and pass/repass to get to your garage? Or are you a leasehold owner?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Sorry
Can you clarify on what closed off from the road means?
Is it in a block? Standing alone but away from your house?2 -
Thank you for responding. I have uploaded a picture. They added this to the pictures for evidence. If it’s not clear, I will go out and take a better one.KeithP said:Please show us a picture of the sign.

Thank you for responding. I was not aware. I haven’t owned a car for about two years now and am using my friends car whilst she recovers from surgery.Coupon-mad said:You realise this isn't a real parking fine and UKCPM are ex-clampers and easy to beat in court?

I’m not sure how to describe it. I have uploaded a picture from the online images taken. It’s at the back of my house, but you have to turn in to from the main place of parking. All that is there are garages, you then exit on to a road within the estate, before exiting on to the main road.NeilCr said:Sorry

nothing was mentioned in my tenancy regarding parking. But that's a good thing of course, as you will learn when you read the other UKCPM threads. PLEASE don't make the mistake of only reading your own thread.
Have you asked your private landlord or Managing Agent to step in and cancel this? UKCPM contracts allow cancellation.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Have you asked your private landlord or Managing Agent to step in and cancel this? UKCPM contracts allow cancellation. No, I haven’t as yet, as I was not aware I could do this. But I will contact my landlord and see what they can do to help.Would I put this in as an appeal in the meantime or just send all details to my landlord for them to try and cancel it?0 -
There's no appeal. It's a scam from an ex-clamper.
You need to read other UKCPM threads (not other forums).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
