Palihapitiya has reserved IPO tickers from D all the way to Z too.Username999 said:
All very confusing because Chamath is involved with a few IPO/SPAC and the names are similar.adindas said:
This is IPOC. I have been trying to enter at around US$13 since two weeks ago but never get luck. It iis now trading trading at around uS$16.30.If you are interest he also has IPOB. It has not got a company to merge with.Another similar to this is PSTH owned by Bill Ackman. These SPACs are very good because these billionaires put a reasonable amount of their own money into the SPAC they have founded. They are also only targeting a mature unicorn company, so it is actually also good for a long tem holding.
I have "IPOC" currently trading at $12.15 on TradingView.com
And on HL there is SOCIAL CAPITAL HEDOSOPHIA HOLDINGS CORP III (IPOCU) trading at $13.50
He does mention IPOB which is trading at $16.27
LOL

Malone2020 said:I tend to shy away from speculating and stick to investing. Sure that means I miss out on the Zooms, Pelotons etc but how many similar companies like these have failed to cut the mustard. Come to think of it, it will be interesting to see how Apple's recent fitness subscription service will impact on Peloton going forward. The problem for me with speculating is that everything seems so much like common sense in hindsight....
Yes, better to stick to what you are comfortable with. Some people are even willing to lock their money into 5yr fix rate saving account earning less than 1% for the sake of comfort and security. Nothing wrong with it as it is your own money you are investing / saving.

https://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/news/2020/09/16/opendoors-blank-check-partner-plans-4th-fund.htmlManage to get entry IPOB today @US$15.67. As soon as the merger date is announced I am expecting to jump 100%+, on merging date expect another 100%-200%+.
People will now able to see the difference between investing in SPAC and traditional IPO like Snowflake.
In traditional IPO the clear winner is hedge funds, institutional Investors like Warren Buffet. Keep in mind Snowflake IPO price valuation has been revised a few times starting from US$70 to US$120 at IPO launching date. Because Warren Buffet bought it before the IPO was launched he might has got it some where between US$70-US$120 (or even US$70) becuase the bought large quantities of shares. With the current price just see how easy they are making money gaining 100%+ in just a few days from IPO itself. That is the reason why I prefer speculating in SPAC rather than traditional IPO.

You are not talking about 100% gain here but much more in realtively very short period of time.IPOB about to merge with OpendoorsIPOB.U (or/U) is the same with IPOB but with warrant. Anytime you see stock with (.U /U) it means it is offered with warrant.IPOC has not got target company to merge with.2

You mean e.g. the Class A ordinary shares (IPOC) vs the redeemable warrants (IPOC.WS)? They are different financial instruments which carry different rights and so would have different prices. They would need to have different tickers to allow you to buy the one you want, after you have done your research on the potential risks and rewards of the one you want to buy.Michael121 said:Why is there different tickers for social capital?1 -

I certainly wouldn't call SMT a "punt". To me a punt would be a spread bet on oil price or similar. I would call SMT more of a calculated risk with a very good chance of a positive outcome over a 5+ year investment horizon.123mat123 said:Speculative punt... Lots of potential value if one goes individual stock picking in the UK or Europe currently.
