Thanks for that ISOM..I'm not an inspiration though....didn't think that it would be possible but had a good think the other day....the way I'm seeing it is that egg is 0% until may so will pay that off...
Halifax 0% until december so may off set the money in the account
loans not worth paying off early so should let them run their course
Tax, holiday savings and any spare rather than putting them in seperate accounts I will transfer them straight to the offset..then I will just take them out when needed as they will offset and I can get them anytime anyway...the windows I will save up for at home....
My ERC is not up until 31 march so can't do anything yet
or I can put all the debt on the mortgage as I have 32k available as a credit!!!!..but my cards are 0% and loans are 6.3% I think and the car loan about 8% but that is offset for tax that one....
So don't see any benefit to putting them on the mortgage...
My new mortgage will be £525 p/m and I've brought it down from 18 years to 10 years...I only took the original out 5 years ago!!!..that was 25 years...so in effect within 5 years I've got rid of 10 years so am quite proud...I would like to overpay by about £1k p/m but will see how it goes..will def manage that amount next year...I also have a couple of hundred in an ISA so those 3 things added together even at this time will offset !.5k...so less interest to pay on the mortgage...I have about 10 weeks yet so that may be another 1.5k so about 3k to offset this is just with my tax savings holiday and ISA!!!!....
So am looking forward to the challenge..if everything could be finished by christmas 2011 I'd be happy if not I'm going to have fun trying..lol
  • umm no, actually you ARE an inspiration, whether you like it or not! So there!! Hug for you! Going to log off as need to ice the knee and watch ER with NO latop on my knee! Hope you feel better tomorrow!

Taxi you most certainly are an inspiration. You inspire me anyway. For us self-employed people with multiple debts it can be very hard to see the way forward but you seem to think so clearly about it.

Only today I was in the bank and they were selling me the benefits of their One account, and I thought "but I know taxi has got a better deal from abbey."

I wish you lived nearer so we could sit down and go through it all, but as we're at opposite ends of the country I pick up lots of ideas from reading about your debt-busting.

Sorry to hear you are bored tonight. As ISOM says, it's probably a reaction to the excitement and relief of the last couple of days. Why not go to bed with a good book or something like that.

    Thanks Seaxwyn,
I've only learnt by chance as when I went to see MA...he suggested this mortgage as my specifics were overpayments and reducing the term to 10 years as I wanted to def pay it off by then and no legals and free valuations...I also wanted no fees(I ended up pay 999) but that is added on as he gave me the key facts for the Abbey f lexi fixed for 2 years deal (no fees) and The Abbey flexi plus with fees tracking base rate at 0.49 ....the latter worked out £3k cheaper ...as it had a lower tracker rate..the difference was £3k over the 10 year life..thats some difference ..hence why I chose that one.
I will PM you my phone number at some point if you want and we can have a talk if you want..it's up to you or we can discuss it in pms....
If you put in Abbey flexible plus mortgages into google....and about half way down it will say intermediaries as part of the writing as in https://www.....inter......something like that .....click on it and look at the PDF guide for intermediaries and it's all there in simple terms....also I went onto the Abbey site and played about and found a thing on there to show you how to register and how to pay...my offer is valid until july by the way...just give me a shout if you want me and I'll try and help

Thanks again! I found that site and looked at the pdf and it certainly looks ideal. Now I can see what the catch is - it is dead easy to borrow more! But not once you've been through the DFW training school. I'll ring Abbey and talk it through. Did you get any opinions from people on the MFW Board here?

Didn't ask them they don't seem very friendly...re the mortgage it's the flexibilty thats good for me and the credit thing I don't want but at least every repayment goes in the pot so when tax bill time comes I can just pay...have read loads about the one account but there are two differences Abbey is cheaper and it's not linked to your current account..so I can keep my DDs seperate and as much as I need in my current account to pay the normal bills then transfer anything else thats left into the offset...it's quite easy to get at which is good if I can control it and believe I can as I have had about 5 CCs the last year and not spent on any of them...looking forward to the challenge and it will be easier next year as I won't have any CC debt then...its an interesting mortgage and I'll not have to remortgage again....

    :hello: :hello: Hi Taxi,
Tht mortgage seems really flexible. If you get to the stage where you are making the big overpayments every month you will be mortgage free in no time. :j
Hope you have a great weekend with DGS have you got anything planned specially?
