    Hi Sea,
Not heard about the mortgage as such but had a letter from the solicitor this morning so have phoned the mortgage advisor who said he'd phone the solicitor and will phone the mortgage company tomorrow if he's heard nothing. There is no rush as I have a tie in until 31st march so won't be completing until then.
Can't believe you've got no water yet ..I still have water so hope you get it back soon.
Hope sophie is getting better...poor little love. have you had any clickthroughs on pigsback as I haven't the last two days ...just wondering if its because I've changed my e-mail address
Just up-dated my sig as my egg min payment came out today. The surveyor for the final measurement of the back windows is due at 4pm so all tidying done now.
I'm tackling the double glazing in 4 stages ..saving up for each as I go and hope to have them done by the end of the year!!!!...
The 4 back windows are totalling £1400 and I've paid £200 deposit so £1200 to find on the day of fitting which I will imagine is maybe 3-4 weeks so will add a line at the bottom later to reflect how much it will cost and how much I've got towards it etc.
I then have a back door to buy...a front door to buy and 2 front windows..so this is my 3 phases...my back door I want replacing with a stable door this is a rock door and are very expensive but are really top of the range..(I'm still awaiting the price)...on the front I again want a rock door...and the two front windows are £719..so quite a bit of saving to do.!!!!!

Hi taxi. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about your mortgage. I'm interested to see if you do get a good deal as i will be doing the same when my fixed rate ends in May.

That's an amazing amount you've saved on the clear 20k by Christmas challenge - more than a sixth of the way there and it's only January!

Hey Taxi - doing fab then :)

No, still no water. Didn't realise just how much I do use water (sounds silly, eh?)

You're organised getting the mortgage sorted! Well done on the savings for the dg too - I have a feeling we need to replace a few bits and bobs on this house but am in denial about it for now!

    Hi everyone,
Well I've had a great afternoon my DS whos 25 and doesn't live at home phoned me to say he's passed his driving test today so that was fantastic news.
The window surveyor has been and the exact measurements done so my windows will be ordered tomorrow ..they take about a week to get them and then they will phone me with dates to fit them...I want them fitting on a thursday so reckon it will be 2-3 weeks then in total...BEST OF ALL...I have counted up my savings in the house and because of the deposit I've paid and the £865 I have here I now only need £335 for the day they come to fit them!!!....I will have £140 of that on the last banking day of the month (DHs pension) and DD gets paid on the 10th of the month so gives me £150 so if I have them done before the 10th feb I can take the rest out of the bank...so not really far off my target.
Seaxwyn I will keep you informed about the mortgage...it's a Abbey flexible plus mortgage with a savings account but you don't have to move your current account so is different from IF and one account...even though it can be an offset.
I can make as many overpayments as I want or put as much as I want in the offset bit....but from what I can gather making overpayments go straight into the savings pot unless you request that they don't and the payments go down not the term ..IYSWIM...but this is just from what I understand.
The offset bit you can get at anytime and you also have a credit limit up to 90% of your mortgage valuation without having to ask for..so if you have nothing in your pot and say £20k available credit you can use the credit and this will put your mortgage payments up....if you don't use it then they stay the same....so I guess it's best to just put money in your pot and then leave that offsetting the interest...and if you need anything then take it out of the pot!!!!
You can access it online,by post and by phone...doesn't say anything about the branch!!!...
You can take payment holidays etc...
    My example is this:
Mortgage owing now £46400 paying £380 p/m just over 18 years left 7.25%

    Abbey
Mortgage owing £46400 ...0.49% above bank of england rates for life of mortgage have now cut it to 10 years so £524.99 p/m based on valuation of £95k....
So these are the figures for illustration and my advisor has put me through fast track and everything alright so far just awaiting the mortgage offer now as have had mortgage in principle...I do not have to offset or overpay so will def be mortgage free in 10 years but do intend to overpay etc when I totally understand it.
lokked on mortgage board but couldn't see any info...

Sea I had to be organised with the mortgage as it needs to be sorted before 31st march and being S/E and the credit crunch etc plus time for valuations solicitors etc..my mortgage advisor booked that appointment for me last november this one moved unusually quickly and I may hear something tommorrow. Can't wait to hear I'm so impatient..I'm terrible I can't concentrate when I've got a lot on my mind but this one sounds ideal as it has loads of flexibility for me...but being a high street lender and being S/E and having the time off over the last 2 years if they have to look at the books it could fail even though as you can see since we have changed companies we are obviously earning a lot more now..so thats where the problem can lie...MA said if they haven't asked now they are more than likely not to ask but you know my luck so I may have to go down the road of asking the accountant to do a projection if needed or go the true self cert route...
Sorry to hear about the water still..it was on granada reports earlier that 11000 people were still being affected I do hope it gets sorted soon as it's a real pain in the butt!!!
