  • Well it is good news on a lot of fronts Taxi, and i hope you can soon begin to put it all behind you. MAzz is coming to Blackpool next week, so maybe if she goes to funnygirls you could picke her and her OH up and have an MSE chat?

Your positive attitude does you credit, i need some of that today so thanks for sharing it.

Thanks everyone....it's the anger and frustration that I'm not in control of things at the minute and that somebody else has put us into this UNDESERVED position.Hence still sat here unable to work as the replacement taxi hasn't arrived yet.I know we will be alright in the end it's the stress and upset along the way and all the battles I have to fight. At the end of the day we wouldn't be in this position if she hadn't hit us!!!!
So while I'm positive I'm extremely frustrated and am quite tearful with frustration and anger...
Pinzy you would be mad to get into taxi driving just now due to a recession starting to bite(people stop going out to save money...even the early workers are getting buses or walking)....the cost of diesel is on the up every day.
I pay £141 per week for our radio system.
Settle day I guess is the day you pay your subs.
to become a taxi driver ...you now need to do a btec course approx cost £150
have a medical cost varies....one dr in my surgey will do it for £50 others £150
    an enhanced CRB £41.50
    sit a knowledge test
pay for your badge..ours £89.50 each.
If you own your own taxi...you have to have a pits test...£160ish....mot...even on brand new cars....pits can be up to 4 times a year....first aid kit, fire extinguisher, taxi insurance and public liabilty..minimum cost £1k up to about £3k....fuel,repairs and the list goes on.
If you are a half share driver you fill the car with fuel and then get half and still have to pay income tax and NI....and all the costs associated with your job.
It is hard to work out take home pay as every single day is different...in the amount you take or cost of fuel or if the car is off the road for any reason.I have still to pay my subs whether I'm working or not.
If I wasn't tied in now I think I would knock it on the head and get a proper job also a half share driver usually does 6x12 hours shift a week.
  • I would look on it as an opportunity to write a book, bet you get some characters in your cab?
The confessions of a taxi driver? Or maybe that has been done! Think of a good title..The chronicles of Blackpool? The trials and tribulations of a taxi driver?
Or a Hypno one...is this the luckiest taxi ever...Pigeon Poop on my cab?
