Ours got approved today subject to valuation completion - major relief!  13 days in total :)
  • Hi all,

We have been waiting 6 weeks since we applied through our broker. She said they keep coming back with the same questions about my partners income but it seems like a different person is dealing with it every single time.

We’ve got a 26% deposit and only looking to borrow about 4 times our combined salaries. We both have excellent credit scores and low monthly commitments. Only issue is I’m self employed and my partner is both employed and self employed. However they’ve haven’t asked me for anything other than my tax returns and a business bank statement but for her they have asked for loads.

getting really frustrated and our broker said it’s ridiculous taking this long as she’s provided them with everything they need to know.

    Anyone else had similar issues?

  • Hi everyone,

I have seen a lot of stuff on this forum about Santander mortgages so thought I would give my experience/timeline:

    Friday 11/3: AIP issued
Saturday 12/3: Application was sent off online
Saturday 12/3: Asked for more info which was sent
    Monday 14/3: Documents being reviewed
Tuesday 15/3: Asked for more info which was sent
Tuesday 15/3: We were told that they would be valuing the property
    Wednesday 16/3: Documents being reviewed
Thursday 17/3: Asked for more info which was sent
Friday 18/3: Documents being reviewed again
Friday 18/3: Application successful, subject to valuation and we were told that we would received codes to confirm our address
Saturday 19/3: Codes received via post and were uploaded, received email to confirm
Monday 21/3: Email to say application was successful, and that our offer has been sent via post

We were never told when exactly the valuation would take place/how it would take place etc.
We are first time buyers with a 25% deposit, 75% mortgage.
    We did our application ourselves.

No two weeks from application they had some questions we responded and got the offer the next day.  Can your broker chase them up seems a long time.

We are in a very similar position,
    hubby employed, I’m self employed.
mortgage broker not the most helpful on the planet.
Number of working days we have waited so far - 22
application submitted on 20th Feb, just keep getting told it is being reviewed by underwriters.
    Getting very frustrated now!!!
    have you had any updates??

Got our offer today, honestly can’t believe it! Hard search was on 7th of Feb, offer received 22nd March.

I realise our situation was a bit more complicated with the self employment and the fact I was heavily affected by covid restrictions. However it’s the fact that every thing they asked for and we supplied, wouldn’t be reviewed for a week then they’d ask for something else. Obviously irrelevant now, we’re too happy to care but if it had been a no we would’ve been very angry at the length of time it took.

    Fingers crossed for you
  • Hi all,

I moved to the UK over a year and recently I have reserved a new build. I engaged with a mortgage broker to apply for mortgage with Santander. LTV is 50%. Most of my deposit is coming from my employment income and property sold oversea. I know the application process will be longer than usual. Here is my timeline to share:

    25/1 - AIP received.
    16/2 - Application submitted.
    16/2 - Hard search.
21/2 - Asked for more info. Documents submitted within the same day.
1/3 - Asked for more info. Documents submitted within the same day.
3/4 - Property valuation has been signed off at full value
    15/3 - Soft & hard search.
16/3 - Asked for more info. Documents submitted within the same day.
21/3 - Asked for more info. Basically the similar questions on 16/4. Documents submitted within the same day.

So an update from me, the valuation finally took place today and our offer has just been confirmed! So the race is back on!  I still don't know if our conveyancer will have time to do what she needs to do to complete by the end of June but we have more chance now they didn't wait to issue the offer 🤞🤞

Good luck to everyone else waiting, it has to be the most frustrating and stressful process EVER xx
I hope it comes through for you. The offer's team is running behind schedule by 3 weeks.
Thank you, I hope it works out for you too! It's just so stressful isn't it.

I called them first thing yesterday morning and was on hold for almost an hour, but they did agree to fax our offer to the conveyancer within the next 2-3 hours and assured me the hard copy would be with them yesterday too. Of course when I checked with the sol after 3 hours had passed they hadn't received either.

Back on hold for over an hour and they'd faxed it to a different fax number than the one on their website although it was the number they'd apparently been told to use. Anyway I asked them to fax it to the website one, and they agreed, but again, it'd be within 2-3 hours. By the time I got off the phone it was 4.30 so we wasted yet another precious day. If it isn't with her first thing on Monday morning I'm going to seriously lose my !!!!

After the euphoria of hearing our offer was approved on Thursday and the whole chain confirming they'll be ready from the 28th I was on such a downer last night. I literally can't take much more tbh! It's going to take an even bigger miracle to pull this off now 😢

Good luck to us all, I think we need it xx
Did your solicitors receive the offer via fax in the end? Had this exact situation today. So frustrating!
