The waiting is horrible. We’re still waiting on our official offer to come through via email or text or phone or post!!
It really is! I just want to know!
  • Just received the text confirming our mortgage offer. I can't believe how quick that was! The timeline ended up being:

    07/04/2021 - MiP/soft credit check
08/04/2021 - Full application/ hard credit check/ told by MA that application was accepted subject to valuation.
    12/04/2021 - Remote valuation/ handover to underwriters
    13/04/2021 - Text confirming offer at 11:12.

So happy! Now the race is on to beat the stamp duty holiday.

I think Santander is just winding me up now.

    24/02 DIP
    24/02 Experian Soft Check
    02/03 Full Application
    05/03 Valuation Instructed
    11/03 Desktop Valuation
    15/03 Documents Requested
    16/03 Documents Submitted by MA
    16/03 Experian Hard Check
    18/03 Internal Valuation Instructed
    23/03 Internal Valuation Completed
    25/03 Valuation Report Received
30/03 Existing property query. Back to queue.
31/03 Tax Overview for previous 2 years and 3 months Business Statements requested. Back to queue.
01/04 Personal bank statement for March 2021 requested. Back to underwriters queue
02/04 Proof of overseas income requested. Back to queue
07/04 Accountant Signature in pen rather than an electronic signature. Back to queue
12/04 Hard credit check number 2
13/04 Silly questions, back to queue

Seems like being self-employed is a crime in this country. Not a lot of support from the government or the banks either :(

What a pain. Our application is self-employed too and was submitted on the 8th April so only last week but our mortgage advisor asked for all of those documents you mentioned before he submitted our application so that he could submit everything at the same time. (He asked us for our HMRC Tax calculations and overviews, 3 months of bank statements, my PAYE payslips in addition to my self employed HMRC earnings, as well as our pensions forecasts). Has your mortgage advisor dealt with self-employed applications before as assuming he would have known those documents would have been required?

I've honestly started believing that my MA isn't very efficient. He should've known all this from the start.

I agree. Our MB is vague as hell!

Hopefully they won't need anything else now and can proceed quickly for you.

That is horrific! I really hope they manage to pull their finger out and get you approved! Self employed people have had a hard enough time over the last year as it is without mortgage providers messing you about.

The really crazy thing from our perspective is that we didn't put in our full application until about 18:00 Thursday 8th so really our approval only took 2 and a bit business days.

Our application has been approved subject to a valuation on the 26th April! I’m so pleased!
