  • We had our mortgage application phone call today. Went well and they were lovely and helpful.

Was just wondering how long it takes for them to contact the estate agents to book the valuation? She made it sound like it was super quick to get the valuation booked in (but obviously surveyors are busy so we have to wait for the actual appointment)

And then she said we’d get our mortgage offer within 48 hours from valuation.

Valuations depend; mine was done in a couple of days via desktop, that was Oct 20th, however some are done in person so it depends.
You’ll need to enter the underwriting queue as well, depending on your circumstances this could be a quickish process of you could be sat in it for a month +
I’m 5.5 weeks since applying and don’t have an offer yet as an underwriter hasn’t seen our application yet, but some people have had their mortgages go through really quickly!
If you’re self employed you may need to sit back and grab yourself a drink as those ones are taking the longest right now.
  • So happy to see its at 26th! Good luck to everyone else who has been waiting too.

For the people who have had offers, how quick did you hear when you hit the top of the pile?
I got to the top on Monday, broker confirmed offer approved Monday morning..but is now at the mortgage processing centre where they match documentation upto the valuation and do admin to send offer out...4 day queue there...
We got the text through today so hopefully you won’t have long!
    Congratulations:)
22/09 - application submitted with Leeds BS, long story short, on the 9/11 we've been told that Leeds is reducing the amount they're willing to lend by nearly £20k (turns out our broker FORGOT to declare our child on the application)
10/11 - found another mortgage advisor
11/11 - AIP with Santander (single applicant, shared ownership, 85LTV)
    12/11 - all documents sent
13/11 - application with Santander submitted and passed to underwriting. Valuation booked for 23/11
19/11 - mortgage agreed, subject to a satisfactory valuation
    23/11 - mortgage offer issued
    19/12 - completed
  • Does anyone know how long it takea until the offer is with the solicitors??

Hi all, I have been reading various threads to see which if timelines are reasonable as have had an offer accepted on a property 7 weeks after accepting an offer on ours so didn’t want any delays caused by mortgage.

I thought it would be good to add our timeline for others in a similar position.

    25/11 submitted application
    25/11 valuations instructed
25/11 documents requested and provided (payslips)
25/11 questions asked and answered (previous names, whether we have been furloughed)
    25/11 joined UW queue

As you can a lot has happened in one day.  We applied directly, both employed, low LTV (30%) and low multiple of income (2.2x) so simple case but we have been surprised how quickly It has been processed so far.  If only searches and conveyancing could be this quick!

Hate to break it to you but we had out valuation done three days after we applied (so two ten days ago) and we're very definitely still in the UW queue. Both employed in very solid 'professional' jobs (banking and law), comfortable LTV, borrowing 2.6x salaries, no adverse.

Happily, our valuation has come back positive so now we wait! I'm doing a birthday collection for one of my most loved team mates today and the amount of money coming into my Monzo accont is silly - if the UW want to see those statments I'll have a fun time explaining all these deposits ahaha.

That’s excellent news!  Quite a bit quicker than their service levels website seems to be indicating.  Good luck with the rest of the process!
