what do you think the rise in standing charges would be attributed to, simple profiteering?
If ever there was a clear case for companies not 'profiteering' it is energy companies currently. They're struggling not to go bust!

Nothing will ever improve on sliced bread,
Government subsidised SMART bread; Wifi enabled it re-orders itself when down to four slices.

I went on supply with NR on 12th October - when will they issue me with the first bill/statement? And what would be the ideal date for me to send my meter reading (which I believe simply goes out as an email to a staff member who has to manually apply it to the account - am I wrong)?

I'm in a similar position.  I went live with them on 13th October, so expecting to be billed around the 12th/13th November.

I don't think the meter readings get e-mailed to them, as when I have been submitting mine they show up on the online portal.

Well another day has gone by and OfGem's bulletin only mentions Bluegreen Energy, so maybe NF managed to pay the 300k

I think that link will just e-mail them.

If you submit it through the online account though it gets applied to the account there and then (or so I believe).  It shows the updated reading on your online account after submitting it.

You will get an email reminder to submit your reading (I sent mine in 2 days earlier, then got an email on the 16th)
  • I went live on the 27th September, and I only received my first bill last Friday, 29th October. However, that was only after a lot of chasing, and cancelling my direct debit, due Wednesday, 27th October. I wouldn't necessarily recommend that, but it seemed to focus their attention, and they were straight on my case. During October I had submitted numerous meter readings via the portal, but nothing happened.

When it did turn up, the bill was fine in terms of readings. price and calculation, and I have reinstated the dd via a mandate form they sent to me. So see what happens next time...
