I finally managed to get my credit back from them after leaving, but not the £60 fine for paying late.Does this increase if they continue not to pay it?0

No, £30 for not providing the final bill on time and £30 if they don't make the payment on time after that and £30 if they fail to pay the compensation within 10 days of identifying that they should have paid it.. £90 is as good as it gets....Jeff_Dee said:I finally managed to get my credit back from them after leaving, but not the £60 fine for paying late.Does this increase if they continue not to pay it?

I was with Symbio and I'm still waiting to be told everything about my next provider Eon Next. I have considered changing to Neon Reef but we were told to wait until the transfer to Eon Next was complete. That seems to be taking an age.
Looking at the price of natural gas since the early 90's, the price has been much higher than it currently is during that long period, yet we didn't have massive energy inflation then, on the scale we see today.

Why is there such a disparity in the price of a Kw/h in gas v electric (typically 4p v 20p), if you're lucky, when most of the electric production was being sold as 'green' and renewable sources? The government wants everyone to use heat pumps and electric cars, how convenient is that, looking at the electricity price right now? Why has the standing charge shot up too?0 -
They have put up the price of electric to cover the losses from selling gas. Neon Reef only sell 100% renewable energy from solar, wind and hydro, that's why they are a lot cheaper.mrooke said:I was with Symbio and I'm still waiting to be told everything about my next provider Eon Next. And here's today's chart from https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/uk-natural-gas showeing the current spike:
Prices are now more than twice what they were in late 2005, which was the highest point on the chart you shared.
Most of the retail price of electricity isn't (or wasn't) down to the wholesale electricity price, it's the added bits. See Ofgem's infographic here. And if you need to buy power today, and all the cheap sources have aleady been bought, you need to pay the marginal cost of switching on whatever generating capacity comes next.mrooke said:Why is there such a disparity in the price of a Kw/h in gas v electric (typically 4p v 20p), if you're lucky, when most of the electric production was being sold as 'green' and renewable sources?

Whilst that may be their intention it isn't actually true in practice https://www.neonreef.co.uk/fuel_mix/ (this is a big improvement over their previous fuel mix statement).paulbounty3 said:Neon Reef only sell 100% renewable energy from solar, wind and hydro, that's why they are a lot cheaper.0 -
I have used their online form twice. It's an awful system. You get no confirmation that they have received your message. I have done this twice. How many times do you need to do this?dbks said:

Not looking good, is it?
Or are you just simply still waiting for a reply?

I do know the ombudsman system. I used it against Symbio in the same circumstances and was compensated. This time I think I will be wasting my time but I will used it soon.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Albert Einstein0 -
Just to give an update. I did cancel under the 14 day cooling off period. NR said they would treat as an erroneous transfer and get Symbio to return supply and the dd in favour of NR was cancelled by them. Today I received an email from NR stating as Symbio were no longer in business so the supply could not be returned to them and therefore would remain with NR. It went on to say if I wanted to pursue the erroneous transfer then for me to contact the new supplier and ask them.
For me it makes more sense to stay with Neon Reef so this is what I plan to do.
There was no mention of setting up the dd again but had a link anyway so hopefully they will start payments again.
