Getting off Economy 7

I’m currently on economy 7 tariff with Bulb. I’ve asked if I can come off that tariff to a normal one and was told not without a charge as they would have to physically change the meter. I had a smart meter installed by EDF in September and told the agent this. He then said because Bulb can’t make remote readings yet this is still not possible, when they can it may be possible. I’m not sure I quite understand?
Also I’m struggling severely due to not being able to work for the last 3 months and asked to take a couple of months break as my account is about £1400 in credit after paying it back to 0 on the 18th June. He said this is not possible even though it’s in credit? My monthly usage, apparently, is around £300 per month!! God knows how as I’m not lighting up Blackpool!!

Can anyone advise please as the direct debits are not going to clear at the minute?

If they have to charge you every month ask them to reduce your monthly payment. Are you submitting any readings or they are estimating your bills?0

Some very confusing bits of info - apparently a high consumption but also a large credit ??
Please- when did you become a customer of |Bulb and what is your actual annual consumption in kWh not £'s. Is there an exit penalty on your tariff ?
Your best bet might be to simply change suppliers - Bulb are not necessarily the cheapest.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Welcome to the forum.Switch to Neon Reef, Avro, Yorkshire Energy etc. Much cheaper than Bulb, and no need to change the meter, they will just bill the day and night registers at the same single rate. Switch today !0

Hi
its a bit of both to be honest. I’ve submitted a reading today and they’ve been hugely over estimating the peak rate and under estimating the night rate (as in the charges for night rate was £9.51 and the rest was peak rate)0 -
I’ve got no idea what my annual consumption is. How would I find that out? I’ve only been with Bulb since September 2018 but I was just paying every month and they had never sent me a bill. I queried it and then I ended up with a huge credit after they finally billed me which was 18th June. I can’t see any previous statements on my online account, they’ve disappeared . There is no exit fee. ThanksRobin9 said:Some very confusing bits of info - apparently a high consumption but also a large credit ??

It’s been a bit of both to be honest but I have submitted one now. They won’t allow me to pay less than £185 per month due to my usage even though my account is in credit by a large amount.pokora said:If they have to charge you every month ask them to reduce your monthly payment. Then how did you manage to switch to Bulb - not by telling them how many rooms I hope.
It's about time you took control.
To work out what your annual consumption is you need two reads about 12 months apart - have you a final bill from your previous supplier, anything from Bulb, ................. then its a matter of some simple sums
Tell us a bit about your flat/house -Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
