  • Your £7 lights actually saved you future money. Had you not purchased them you wouldn't have known the gutters needed doing and a the other bits!

Sorry to hear about the relative's new issue. Can the Dr prescribe pads and things? I'm not sure how that side of things work.

Do you have a shoe zone nearby? A lot of theirs are not leather. Also don't rule out walking boots.
I looked at vegan footwear when I was one, walked out the shop quickly. I've had fake UGG boots and other fake suede boots, sprayed with waterproofing and they've been fine. Another place is charity shops, it's amazing how many people buy footwear, leave in a cupboard and then donate. Potentially soles and heels can be replaced, look at t1mps0ns or any local shoe repair place.

  • True Babs - didn't think of it like that....? :)

Will message you about that - it's a bit too graphic!

A lot of the shoe shops seem to be closed, sadly, but I will keep an eye open. I was thinking of replacing instead of repairing, only because I want to phase out leather shoes,  & can't afford to replace all of them at one go.... :)

  • I was eating stollen fruit bread, there's not much which puts me off food!

Skinty has been having deliveries, perhaps look at their online website and see what they have. Never try and replace everything in one go, it means they all need replacing again when the time comes.

Just had another idea. I'm sure I've seen soles can be purchased on 3bay for a few quid, not sure how long they last, but it may buy more time while looking for the right one 🤗

  • If I manage to get my paws on a good vegan pair, I would definitely repair/re-sole & pamper them with water-proof spray etc.

I think I may dig out my old glue (check that it's not animal-based derivative) & see if I can stick the old shoes together, they were flapping about like clown shoes when I risked taking the dog out!  :Dmay get away without putting a new sole on.... & a relative is offering me a trip to a larger supermarket tomorrow - so I will be scouring the footwear aisles in search of something! If they are past that, I will have to fork out for either soles or shoes....

  • TomBo dug my g0rilla glue out today and has stuck his sole back on, apparently he did it to his other boot before.
As you've got non-vegan things just use them all up and don't buy them again.  Be aware of what's in things when replacing. Otherwise you're wasting things when the former you has already paid for them, money you can't afford to lose.

    Happy shopping tomorrow!

Shoe zone do have a small range of vegan shoes and boots which you can buy online & if you sign up to their news letter you get £5 off. I believe it’s also free delivery.  They usually have a bigger range online than in store. I noticed New look also do some reasonably priced vegan shoes registered by the vegan society.

Hope you manage to find something suitable for a reasonable price.

Aw, thank you both, sorry I haven't been around much.... that's really helpful I will investigate SZ!

The relative saga is getting worse, sadly, too long to go into. Let's just say that 'accident's' have occurred, and travelling (and getting lost along the way) have been features, along with stress eating, less and less sleep, and of course, cleaning! Not always my own...... :s

Having got onto my scales (curse or blessing?) and winced, I am trying to get back to some sort of normal, whatever that is.

Anyways, managed some survey's, so that's a little bit of positive in a whole lot of stuff going on..... :) On the plus side, haven't spent much! :)

Well done on the window cleaning and gutter clearing.  (Both jobs that need doing here but too high up for me to manage) The lights sound lovely. They are a 'soul purchase' so that £7 counts as essential purchase in my book :)

  • Ooh, I like that phrase, I may well nick it! Nothing like dragging the pooch back from a dark, soggy walk and seeing the lovely lights flashing away. Instant mood boost.

  • You're doing really well with the relative, it's not easy what you are doing.

Forget the scales for now, that's just another pressure you don't need.

Sounds like the surveys are a good distraction or wind down 😊
