I definitely agree to 1 room at a time so you can see a difference. I'm also 'quality testing' all of the Christmas food! I even tried out some nut roasts but none have made the cut yet...
Take it easy with all of the chores, it can pile up on top of you so quickly if you don't take a measured approach!1 -
MovingForwards said:Give yourself a few hours of home time. Do things like washing up, washing etc but allocate a day to a room, rather than wizzing around all your home.
Definitely going to try this, I tend to go all out and want to do it all, then really tired.....
Eating things early is known as quality control testing, as it would be a shame to buy something, keep it for Christmas and find we don't like it 😁Did another shop for Xmas stuff, almost there with it for the main meal, just going to get a dessert that's vegan and its done.
Still waking up at silly o'clock and finding it really hard to relax when I go to bed, listening to the dog snoring and squeak dreaming....
Got backache between my shoulder blades, and rather sheepishly realise that the weight of the boobage is giving me pain, as well as the creaky knees....So even without the scales my body is protesting! Might have to scale back the stress eating and increase the cleaning.......
Feels like I should be saying 'You know you are getting fatter when....' i.e. your back can't hold up the weight of your chest! Your knees are giving out! You wonder if your waistband is actually capable of cutting off the blood supply to the bottom half of your body! And your back hurts even when you've been in bed all night...... argh! I think I need to incorporate stretching and strength exercises into my day.
In money saving news, I have stuck to a regular payment of £100 going out of the account into a saving account (standing order). Slow and steady but encouraging, this is really working for me. Gives me huge relief to look at the bank balance now, instead of not wanting to look at it at all, and doing the crossing my fingers bury-my-head-in-the-sand attitude to it..... I figure that if I stretch it, my EF could last 4 months, at this rate. Aiming for 6-8 months of expenses saved, which should be doable within 12 months.... watch this space. £3-4000?
I have changed - the hairdryer and the food processor bit the dust. I haven't replaced either of them. Just adapted! Hair is cut short and doesn't need drying or straighteners or any faff, 'wash n go'! Food processor - its a shame, but, it was a pain to clean. I do have a small electric hand held chopper thing which does great in mushing down chunky food into smooth for soups, and an ancient electric whisk that I use for baking, still going strong after 35 years (unbelievable).
The relatives have both had falls (one has had 3!), and have finally let me know, showing off impressive dark red and blue bruises. Both are insistent that they are fine... although I notice less protest when I offer to hoover up, etc. from them. I am wondering if the grumbling is more about saving face, and they are secretly relieved I help out, or just them wanting to genuinely do more and not accepting that they can't quite do what they used to?

Not always boobies, don't you use a laptop to surf the internet? You've been doing a lot of research to help relative, posting here and may not have a suitable set up for doing that. Anything more than a quick check of emails, bank accounts, inputting meter readings needs a desk, with your laptop raised and a separate keyboard. Unless you are secretly Anna N1cOle what'shername 😁
Keep setting your mini goals, your bigger goal will be reached with enthusiasm!
Things aren't built to last anymore, it's a throwaway world we are in, which is a massive shame. Hand blenders do their job.
I don't think the relatives accept they're not as young as they used to be, but sound like they soon will come round. Is it time they used walking sticks to aid getting around or rearrange the furniture to use instead.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2 -
I'm even lower tech as when my hand blender gave up (less than 2 years old grrhh) I started using a potato masher for my soup and now I prefer the texture. I will replace it eventually but in no rush...
You are doing great with your savings
I've come to the same conclusion as you re strength and stretching exercises. Wishing you well with the new regime.
Might quality control test some Christmas cake...If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Sorry to hear your relatives have had falls and that sleep us hard. Do you manage to relax much before bed? Just wondering if a slight tweek to routine could help a little. It's tough when sleep is hard so hope you find something to help switch off a bit.
I definitely heard that Christmas treats don't have caloriesand I'm sticking with that.

Sadly relatives wouldn't accept aids, and no room for them anyway with the amount of crap stuff/furniture they have. I describe their place as similar to those 'hoarder' programmes you see on t.v. without the piles of rubbish. Huge collection habit of... things. Years of trying to get them to de-clutter and failing has resulted in a place of trip/fire hazard nightmares.... My night routine is poor, consisting of staring at (dark) ceiling and whirling thoughts about the relatives declining health, plus listening to the blummin' pooch snoring without a care in the world. I am not relaxed, feel like I am laying there rigidly stressing out. Not good.... time to kick myself up the bum and change that to a relaxing bath instead....

Right size boobie holder? If you're storing biscuits and things in them for overwinter, they may not be getting the right support.
I forgot about the non-hoarding side of the relatives 😳
A bath or shower at night, either work. It's all about teaching your brain what the routine is and sticking with it. Maybe get some colouring books and do one in bed, then lights off, or an easy to read book.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1
