This is something else you could (and probably should have) done before posting.  I get the impression that you're supposed to be good at this IT thing looking at previous posts, and yet every time you post on technical issues you don't do the most basic things and you only cherry pick the solutions you want from what's offered...  Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill!

I have now tried the Pi in another "more modern" TV with exactly the same results - a total lack of audio !
So I am assuming that either the Pi has a h/w fault or is it something that I am missing with the s/w ?
I will be the first to admit that I am not experienced with Linux at all.

Sorry - the volume is not the issue - it is set at half way !

Simple mixer control 'Master' 0

Simple mixer control 'Capture' 0

I am assuming that drivers have not been installed

Looking at Pi forums - it appears that I am not alone in having audio problems with a Pi !
