Raspberry Pi - keyboard problem

Does the pi have a headphone socket ? Do you get audio from there ? Or does it have a composite AV output socket (my 1st-gen pi does, but I don't know if the newer ones have updated that). If you use that to connect to the TV, do you get audio ? (These are experiments, rather than proposed solutions, of course.)What software are you using to generate the audio ? I use omxplayer for playing video - again, that may be deprecated for newer models - which can directly control where the audio goes - hdmi, local, or alsa. That allows bypassing whatever other software is stacked up on top of the audio hardware (alsa / pulse / jack / ...)There should be some audio test generators around - aplay can generate audio via alsa, for example.I have a util called 'tvservice' which can control things about the tv output. I vaguely recall that it's important that I choose a CEA mode or something. I don't really remember. I seem to have an explicit tvservice -e 'CEA 20 HDMI' in one of my scripts (attached to an IRC sensor). tvservice -l says it lists attached devices.1

Just checking https://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2019/06/introducing-the-raspberry-pi-4/ I see that it has two hdmi outputs. Do both behave the same ?0

Both behave the same - no audio - I am assuming that this must be a problem with the TV (single HDMI) input ?psychic_teabag said:Just checking https://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2019/06/introducing-the-raspberry-pi-4/ I see that it has two hdmi outputs. Do both behave the same ?0 -

I am using VLC for audio
However - there's no audio on a pair of bluetooth connected headphones either - and before anyone asks - yes I have paired them properly and set the audio output to the correct place ...0 -
I don't have a output device option under AUDIO - I have 2 identical - "built in audio analog mono"debitcardmayhem said:What are you playing and with what e.g. VLC , if so check the audio tab ---> output device0 -
Bluetooth is a pain on the Pi, it always has been and the result is almost always sweet sod all output without a load of effort.Of course the entire thread could have been solved had you tried another device in the HDMI port in the first place rather than faffing around trying to fix something that probably isn't broken...0

If audio now works, issue is still with first TV.This is something else you could (and probably should have) done before posting. I get the impression that you're supposed to be good at this IT thing looking at previous posts, and yet every time you post on technical issues you don't do the most basic things and you only cherry pick the solutions you want from what's offered... Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill!3
