Hello
Today has been very changeable, lovely sunshine one minute followed by a heavy downpour the next. We have no reason to go anywhere so no inconvenience, the garden benefits and the shine bits make me happy. OH, in particular, is happy the temperature in the house is dropping, even if it is slowly.
Plans for today:
A couple of lessons for the children to keep on track Done
B/L/D from stores
Meal planned for the next 10 days Done
Updated the freezer inventory, as we failed to do this as we went over the last few days Done
Billed people for the latest wholesale order that arrived in the week Done & 1 person has already paid
RM survey Done
PMP etc
Play a game as a family
Talk to OH about making an overpayment to our mortgage Done, decided we could afford to overpay 62% of our overpayment allowance, in the past we would use these to reduce the term, but our product finishes at the end of the mortgage term so this would have invalidated the conditions, so instead we have opted to reduce the monthly payments, but we are going to overpay the difference between the existing payment and the revised payment as an additional overpayment until the end of the year, then we will review this cost as part of our annual budget
Make overpayment Done

Happy birthday to the birthday girls!
Afternoon folks
Same weather here as you are having BB. Bit fed up as house smells all damp. I've been trying to do a little bit of deep cleaning as we're having a house inspection in a couple of weeks. Ran a soapy cloth over some of the paint work and attacked OH's instrument scuffs with a magic eraser. Really the whole house needs a lick of paint but I'm not really sure whose responsibility it is. OH and I are planning to gradually do all the rooms on the sly!
Other things today:
B/L/D from stores - done
OH doing a small paid socially distanced gig at a garden party! - done
Use coloured beeswax to go over scuffs in woodwork (OH again...) - done
Booked my hair cut and colour! (not mse but very needed) - done
Stripped and remake the bed - done
Washing chancing it on the line as the rain seems to be light and sporadic - done
Reconcile the budget sheet - done
Bit of knitting. Making socks for my dad but as they are large socks and ribbed, they are taking FORVEVER. Finally onto the main foot. - done
Use a cheap tealight to melt the wax I saved out of a branded scented candle to cover damp smell. - done
Have a good one all

Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes
and a belated happy birthday to @Happy_Kitties.
I can't believe the last time I posted was on Monday, I just don't know where the days are going, I swear time has speeded up since lockdown started!
I've had a spendy day but a saved for one so its all good. We're replacing the boys bed bases (ds1 has had a sudden growth spurt and can't lay stretched out anymore on his bed
and ds2s metal frame is bending like ds1s did at the end of last year - unfortunately I couldn't give ds2, ds1's bed base as it wouldn't fit in the gap in his room as its got a chunky header/footer but this was a frame that I had in the garage from an old tenant so I don't mind really) Will make our own headboards as the prices we've been looking at are crazy money!!
We've been out for a couple of walks around the block for exercise in between showers.
I've had a long chat on the phone with my parents using facetime which was nice.
My best friends daughters made me a birthday shortbread which they popped outside my front door on a little table with table cloth and candles
My sister sent some flowers and chocolate through the post (Had to hunt around for a suitable vase as I'd cut several roses from the garden this morning that had been damaged in the storm we had last night!)
We're continuing to use up lots of bits and pieces food, shampoo's, lotions, potions etc
Shared bathwater and left hair to dry naturally
A jacket spud/fridge pot luck meal tonight as none of us fancied a big meal as per the meal plan so we've swapped a couple of days around and I ended up having, spud/a slice of ham, odds and ends of salad, mayo and with a diced up apple in there and it was lovely
In other news we heard yesterday that dh's office definitely won't be re-opening until September at the earliest and he believes that (fingers crossed) the company will probably decide that people can choose to work from home going forward anyway. This would be a massive saving for us, not just fuel, but his time (min 3hrs a day) and we could go down to one car etc so I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed.
On that happy note, I'm going to log off and pick a film to watch with hubby.
Take care all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

We too have our fingers crossed that going forward that OH (and virtually everyone else at his work) will be able to work from home ongoingly. The savings in time, 10 + hours per week, fuel and other costs are fantastic. We have been discussing the possibility of cutting back to 1 car, which would be another saving.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

@Baileys_Babe and @1LuckyLady - I think lots of firms will realise people can be perfectly productive at home and they don’t need to pay to service huge offices anymore meaning hopefully lots of people will be able to work from home. It doesn’t work for everyone, I’ve done it a couple of days a week for the last 15 years and I love it, I get so much more done (even without the commute/fuel benefit). Im
hoping that I can move that to 4 a week going forward, if not 5 😉
my list today:
pegged a load out already as it’s gloriously sunny and blowy, another load in.Look at airers, see if the move to a heated one is worth it
roast dinner at home for the first time in ages, make yorkies and stuffing and crumbleSome more sewing
walk later
Bit more sorting
Sweep through downstairs
have a good day everyone. Purps.5 -
Thank u so much for the birthday wishes and @1LuckyLady belated birthday wishes
. Bestie's DD made me cupcakes and i had some candles from them-June birthdays are the best! I expected it to be a quiet day, i had the best day ever.
Was so tired at the end of the day.
@ditty1234 so glad u have ur bicycle back.
Was hoping to get more washing sorted today but the weather has been wind and rain over the weekend.
*banking all checked. Everything ready for d.debits going out on Wednesday
*try and hoover upstairs with what i would call a spit fart vacuum. Not a lot of ooomph to it. DD has taken my main hoover for a few days so hopefully i can at least neaten up upstairs
*also using up last bits of toiletries that DD brought back last time. Slowly getting used up.
*not sure about food. Have tried to keep freezer empty as DD clearing out the last of her flat including bringing the last of her frozens back
*iron some bedding bits. Do like ironed bedding. Iron hasnt seen daylight in ages
*write a small policy. If i get this done, project writing finished. Put it off on Friday but if i really put my mind to it, it will only take me 30mins.
*must wrap some birthday presents and baby presents. Theyre just sitting there looking at me. Too tired to do it last night.

Morning all
Not much sleep was had, but I have been productive so far:Early morning dog walkKitchen clean upFridge and freezer tidy / tetris. I made quite a lot of cakes yesterday and needed to get some in the freezer.Trying a sourdough type loaf in my Panasonic breadmaker. I found this idea online, and made the starter last night. It takes only 12 hours rather than the usual 7 days or so, mainly by means of adding yeast I think. It was certainly lively. I had to make an adaptation to the method as my old machine doesn't have a sourdough programme - apparently some new models do, but I have had mine for ages and although it was brand new when I got it, it was an old spec, and so sold off loads cheaper. More googling done to look for a suitable programme. Not sure if / how it will work, but will report back. Also printed off a 'magic dough' recipe from the Thrifty Lesley site, and will try this another time. Meanwhile, there is starter left, so I have fed it with some more flour and water and decanted it into a lidded container in the fridge.Other things:Check banks and update spreadsheetWrap an ebay parcelWash yucky hair and leave to dry naturally (as if I would do anything else
) Ironing
Pick anything ready in the garden and water greenhouse plantsAll meals from home - leftover pasta bake for lunch and a cobbled together version of beef enchilladas (using what I have rather than buying extra ingredients) for dinner

Afternoon folks!
I must be one of the weird ones that doesn't like working from home particularly! I prefer home to be home and I like to be around people. I feel like my work is quite collaborative and you definitely get a different level of input when you are with others as opposed to seeking their advice specifically.
Very grey and windy here today with some scattered showers. We were at the allotment for nearly 3 hours though. I have picked tonnes of peas, a courgette, a few small spuds and a box of raspberries. I have been stewing the raspberries and a few blackcurrants as I go along. I made some of it into some little filo triangles this morning and we had them as an allotment snack. Slurp!
The allotment is starting to take shape. We've cleared and sorted a lot of the rubbish ready for OH to take to the tip on Tuesday. We've marked out both boundaries now and OH has marked another bed near the back of the plot. (Poss rhubarb and gooseberries?)
A bit of gardening advice... @foxgloves you will know or @DawnW - can I put rhubarb into a partially shaded area? The rhubarb is currently taking up a prime bed near the front of the plot and I'd like to move it to the back.
Other than that, all the usual things and I'm chilling now with some knitting.
Have a good rest of the day
