What small DFW things will you do w/c 22nd June?
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Morning!
Many thanks for starting us off @PurpleFairy26.
Did everything yesterday except paint the wall. Did manage to sand it down so plan is to
-paint the wall today
-banking all checked, everything good.
-back to docs for more blood tests, can post a RM survey item at the same time
-hoping the weather perks up, looks very grey at the minute. Still trying to work my way thru DDs uni stuff.
- do some paperwork. If i can get two policies written today i will be happy.
So close to completing the end of the big project now.
-give the bathroom a once over.
-start my next episode of Midsommer Murders.
-have left over foodbits from yesterday. We filled the oven when cooking tea so these will form the basis of food today. Food wastage has really decreased the past few months, much better at meal planning.
Have a good day everyone xDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have been convincing myself that I had my head round being a DFW, as debt keeps going down. Which is great, but have had a bit of an epiphany this morning and want to cry. I've realised just how slowly it's going down and that all of the little DFW habits I put in place are slipping and those I stick to only serve to let me spend the money somewhere else instead! So, have come back to MSE to be amongst DFW friends and get myself straight once and for all. So, today I will:- check bank accounts, and update my spreadsheet- revisit my budget and actually mean to stick to what I set- dig out old phone handsets (that I planned to sell last year and then put away till I got round to it)- dry washing outside in this glorious sunshine- do a meal plan- read this thread and a couple of others for inspiration

Morning all. @Ellie_BB don't despair. Debt going down and not increasing is all good news. And I think it's OK to have 'treat money' in fact I think making sure you have enough for whatever keeps you going is really important. For me it's a few quid to get a frothy coffee and sit in my car and have some me-time out of the house. Yes, too many of these add up and slow down my progress. But when I tried to go cold turkey, all debt repayment and NO treats I was so miserable that I cracked and took myself to the Trafford Centre on credit cards.
Since my lightbulb moment in Jan I have allowed myself my treat-coffees and refuse to feel guilty. And for some of my me-time trips I just take a flask! it's not really about the coffee!
---This week I am thinking about making money rather than saving money so am looking at places which are open for fiction submissions. Writing fiction/poetry is never going to be a get rich quick scheme but a little extra cash would be great and paid publications all build up the writing CV. And that makes it more likely that a publisher would consider a book-length piece. :-)
I have now run out of money for this month but everything is paid for and OH bought this week’s shopping so actually all is well.
- -hang washing outside if it ever stops raining
- -eat what we already have in
- -keep an eye on E*ay for DD clothes, also my clothes, to get after payday. I so resent paying more than a fiver for anything these days!
- -tidy the house when I get tempted to browse Am*zon a bit too much. The house needs it and my bank balance doesn’t
- -use my v last bit of money for coffee-out time in the car to write and just get my head together
After a v rough week last week I have self-referred to the mental health place again, and fingers crossed they will be able to offer some more counselling. It was really helpful last time.
That’s it. I spent more than usual this month on various gifts and treats so have robbed my annual-expenses buckets BUT still avoided credit cards.
Oh and my much-younger sister got engaged last week - any ideas for a low-cost but nice and also useful gift for them? They are v far away so would need to be postable. Any suggestions most welcome!

Thanks @PurpleFairy26 for this weeks thread.
In the way of small things...
given away a desk to my friend for her daughter, it was a solid dark wood one but I know that she's going to upcycle it, I can't wait to see it when they've done it up
Pleased to give it to a good home as it was my parents from me being very little, then we've had it for about 15 yrs then the last 4yrs its been in and out of the garage so its very well used, well loved but not suitable for our space now.
washed a load and pegged out on the line to dry (will hang all straight away as none of it will need ironing)
home schooling done for the day
use it up meal tonight, pulled various bags of odds and sods out of the freezer to go into the slow cooker with diced beef, will have with some new potatoes that I've had for a bit too long hanging around
banking checked
chopped the top off my facecream, will get another weeks worth out now I think
chopped the top off the shampoo (as above)
going to facetime my parents now for a free catch up.
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hi I am suffering from end of term aimlessness and not ready to start planning, I don't know what I need to get done and I feel weirdly alert like there is something I haven't completed! Aargh.
On the positive side I managed to demolish two big old piles last night, one in dining room from decorating over easter and one in my bedroom from a filing cabinet swop earlier in April. And I washed the floors as well. I also did a tidy in garden and had a organisation of my potting corner. All this as I have decided that what I need in my life is more glamour and glamour starts in the heart, with clear intent and focussed purpose, and then after that it needs interaction from other people, and that is the bit that is still hard to come by. Life feels like a strange dance in an empty space at the moment, not terribly coordinated.
Have completed to mediocre fades on boys this afternoon, just enough to keep them going till the 4th.
done some laundry, about to colour trousers in washing machine
Make a veggie stir fry for dinner
Take a nap!
Have a lovely week and thanks to @PurpleFairy26 for getting thread started.

Feeling bleurrgh today, no energy to do anything much. Not sure if it is my medical condition, the weather or just laziness! Spent most of the afternoon sitting in the garden. But I have done:Early morning dog walkSorted stuff to take to my sales unit, didn't have the energy today to carry it all downstairs, price it up, haul it down to the garage to put it in the car and haul it out at the other end though! I am low on stock, missing the markets etc where I usually stock up. They are starting to open but I am reluctant to go as yet. With OH's help, cleared the potato patch and sowed carrot, radish and beetroot seedsSowed spinach and chard in the greenhousePricked out some lettuce babiesFood was already prepped, thank goodness!Watered back garden (or at least the bits of it that needed it, mainly new seedbed and pots)Harvested the onions that were in the way of where the courgette plants want to grow. Put them on a big tray to dry. I am pleased with them, lots of nice big onions. I will definitely grow autumn onion sets again! We also used lots of them as spring onions earlier in the year until they got too big.5 -
Morning, hope you are all well. Lovely to read how productive everyone is doing. I have managed moments of productivity, as I cleaned the lounge on Saturday and have managed to keep it tidy plus I cleaned the kitchen last night. There is lots to do in the house, but trying to do little and often. So jobs for today:
- B/L/D from stores
- Tidy dining room table
- Check banking and update budget - Done, pleased to see my refund from Shoez*ne has come through
- Pack a basket of washing away.
- Clear the porch area which seems to be a dumping ground
