I'm struggling to see what the extra length - there's no width difference - adds to the manoeuvre, I have to admit.
You need to drive forward far enough that the back of the car is about in line with the edge of the house, in order to reverse round onto the drive. With the original front garden, OP couldn't drive far enough forwards  - when they reversed, even on full lock, they'd have hit their neighbour's house instead of making it onto the drive.

Come in tighter to the house, then swing across, so you're not starting parallel to the house/wall. Stop with the NSF wheel close to the border, bumper overhanging it.

Looks eminently possible in one go, easy in two.

There is no front garden on the plan. I can see why they developer is taking the stance they are now.
I am not understanding your comment. There was a front garden, a lovely one with turf that is now tarmac; with the nice front garden (I posted a picture of it),
Before and after of the garden. The extra tarmac length is clearly visible with the line across the tarmac in the "after" pic.

There seemed to be room to stay left and turn to the right before reversing back into the drive, looks to be around 2 car widths to play with might still be a bit tight.
narrow drive with tandem parking would have put me off that property
would have soon dropped the garden as we have 2 cars, those are 2 extra parking spaces easier to just use them than the drive.
Problem may be visitors to the other houses may want to use them.

I don’t think you can actually fit two cars side by side, it’s that little bit too tight. Here is my car before the 30cm wall extension. It may just be possible but you wouldn’t be able to open doors (there is a railing on top of that wall - safety apparently.....) Where the line shows the garden used to be is our boundary line, so the extended tarmac is ours and the neighbours (luckily) don’t use it. I think the pictures maybe make it look bigger than it is!

Should have put in that previous post, the extension does not go out as per the blue spray paint, it is angled, so the end of the road (by the nose of my car) hasn't changed width, hence why you cant fit two cars side by side.

I am so sorry Starbabe6, what an awful start to your life in your new home.  Hope you get something from the developer to help you come to terms with this.  You have learned one lesson though - next time you won't be buying "off-plan"?

The developer has washed its hand of us, we have fought and fought and they simply don’t care, ignoring evidence and lying. Thank you, no, we will never buy off-plan again. The purpose of my post was to see if there was anywhere else we can take it, but other than media (I’m still tempted) it seems not. We will sell up in a few years and will reduce the price to reflect the tightness of parking, I am just stunned the company can get away with it, but it seems maybe they have....... Lesson well and truly learnt.

Never buy new build whether off plan or not. Like you say the companies don't give 2 toots and can get away with murder. Why would you want the aggravation. As I also said buying on a private road is also crazy as all that will happen is that it will go to rack and ruin as no-one will want to pay for repairs etc. Nightmare.

That would be my preferred parking position. I would forget all about reversing round the corner, just leave your car like that, or reverse in so you can go out forward.

TBH I'd have probably block paved that area myself sooner or later, as it's a perfect parking spot.   A bonus for being on the end, a luxury the neighbours don't have.  A future selling point!!!!
