  • Hi All,
Took both kids to school today as day in the office planned, left school and arrived at work to be informed that DS2's bubble is closed, as they have 2 suspected Positive cases, apparently a text went out around 9:00 PM last night which I didn't receive so poor DS2 was stood outside for 20 minutes as they wouldn't let him in school.  We are awaiting confirmation as to the teachers results to see if DS2 needs to self-isolate (he is atm).  As he hasn't been in school full-time I can't imagine they will but I am hoping they are going to be forthcoming about which teachers it is, as he may not have been in contact with them since last week.

NSD planned again for today, a benefit of WFH is that no money to be spent on dinners.  Balance transfer complete :D £800 left on my biggest card now as I have just made another overpayment, 0% stands at just short of £750.  Slowly slowly ! :D

  • Still no updates on the covid situation so the boys are at home with me today.  I changed my trip in May this morning, I was supposed to be going to Spain and had paid a £90 deposit already.  The organiser contacted me yesterday to say she had some breaks in the UK booked in the Yorkshire dales, we have all decided to switch to that in June.  It will mean I have around £260 to pay which is a lot imo for a UK weekend break, but its luxury yurts apparently and lots of things planned like alpaca walking and a standing paddleboard experience etc.  At least I won't have to pay transfers and taxis to the airport etc so will be money saved that way and I had a £315 balance for Spain  x

It does sound lovely.  We haven't got anything planned for this year. Just trying to see how the pandemic pans out. I have a friend who has a cruise booked for the summer - was originally from last year and moved to this year.  He husband wants to go still.  You wouldn't catch me on a floating petri dish this year! 😬

  • I had £205 budgeted for the trip in Spain so I have paid that on my CC today, It works out around £40 a month now the price has gone down which I can afford out of my budget so would rather have the interest coming down on my card.  I am now at just under £600! Whilst I have transferred across a chunk to the 0% I am absolutely thrilled as I dont think I have been less than £1500 since Ds2 was born lol!

School have got in touch, both teachers are positive so ds1 needs to self-isolate now until Friday 5th, at least we can get him to the park at the weekend providing he hasn't any symptoms.  Ebay buyer hasn't paid, so annoying I have done a 2nd chance offer so hoping it goes straight away :( x

  • That's great that you're able to pay off more from the card. I'm having the saving vs paying off card debate with myself at the moment as its all 0% until May 2022 and in current climate part of me feels like I need some funds behind me just in case.

That sucks that DS1 has to self isolate, seems to be spreading quicker this time round at schools. Fingers crossed for no symptoms.

  • @Sarahwithlove We are on day 4 now and he seems fine so I'm hoping he will be okay  :)
I am having the same debate about saving vs paying, I'm sure I'm going to be made redundant so part of me wants to keep it all in my savings but at the same time I only have 9months on my 0% and want to get my outgoings as low as possible if I do x

  • It's deffo a balancing act. Could you do a bit of both? If in 9 months you are still in work you can always pay the card off in full.

I have two main cards left atm, one is at just under 600 with high interest, the other is 750 at 0% so I'm planning on clearing the 600 then putting everything into savings and making minimums on the other and my other debts x
