I got £1 for each weekday and £2 on saturdays, as you had to go back to the shop to go get the rest.

You'll know saturday papers were sometimes an inch thick! When I got a bit older, I'd take a bag on each shoulder and br relieved when one was getting lighter!

£7 a week!!! Thing was, I'd spent most of it by the time it got handed over in the shop. I was able to go into the shop after getting off the bus from school, buy a can of coke and maybe something else, and put it on a slate type thing. Paid all that off on a saturday when I got my £7. Was often left with a quid, lol.

HA, me too i used to have rows of 22p's where i'd had 2-3 packs of crisps per day if there was someone new on in the shop we would ask to look at our book then scribble it out.... got away with it about twice but tried endlessly..... sundays were the worst i didnt have the bottom of the village thank god. its the posh end anf u have to walk up and down four hill whilst delivering them all.

it was nice having tic in the shop when no1 else did though.
If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.

Random dropping in of my opinion:

So far, I think that PGL thing looks like the best option.

It's got more long-term prospects, solves the issue over location/travelling, solves the accommodation problems (finding any, deposits, refs etc)

I'd quite fancy that if I were 25 years younger!

The thing is if I could get to college I could get to jobs :rotfl: (my nearest college is 2 buses away, my nearest uni 3) but I have just started with the OU (something I had to figure out for myself- I had been on the dole a year and no-one even mentioned it!)
It's not a bad idea, the motorbike thing but when you've lived around wales for most of your life and figures like:
"In 2005 there were 694 motorcycle casualties in Wales, and 539 in 2006, according to figures from Gwent Police."
only surprise because you thought they would be higher, I don't think it's a option that I will be taking up any time soon. It's not the jobs that are in difficult to get places btw, it's me that's in a difficult place :)

I have seen the way the Welsh drive   Snowdonia is quite remote so getting a job must be hard but as mentioned by other people on here why don't you try employment agencies? I was unemployed years ago and I joined an agency and was prepared to do anything and I mean anything. I did things like working in a factory to picking up litter etc etc. At the end of the day money is money, we all need it so get the yellow pages out tomorrow or go into your nearest town and visit these agencies. many agencies will have lots of work this time of year for factory work. The royal mail is always recruiting this time of year aswell for postmen and sorters.
    Goodluck ;)

I watched a tv programme the other night, Evicted I think it was called. I spent almost the whole programme in tears,

Yes, I saw some of that too. And I watched the original some months back. The families were all hard up and scraping around for money all the time. It didn't stop them smoking in just about every scene though. Safe to say no tears were shed in this vicinity!

 I've already answered this- I can get to my nearest big town by 10-30 and I have to leave by 4. Strangely there aren't any jobs there that can accommodate this. I know it is hard to understand, but we don't really have much office work or anything like that, mainly it is a smattering of shops and strange hours in pubs, hotels, and restaurants.

Work in a pub, hotel then :D you don't live in Beddgellert do you?

Have you thought about asking any of the pubs and hotels if you can work there in exchange for board and lodgings? At least you'd be able to get some work experience and then maybe look for a bedsit etc.

I was on the Dole for 4 yrs & it wasn't easy finding a job, I went for interviews 2-3 times a week, every time it was the same story, over-qualified, under-qualified, too young, too old, can't drive, too far away, job's already taken. In the end I had to go on a 2 yr course & only after that did I get a job, so when people say "there's jobs there if you just look" yes there ARE jobs there but they're no bloomin use if you can't do them or the people advertising don't want you.

Erm thanks but given the timescales involved in royal mail work, (and i can't be a postie- can't drive) it might not be the most practical solution :D. I'm not even sure we have a employment or temping agency around here, but i'll have a look.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

Because as she has said before, people don't seem to be hiring people who can only work roughly 10.30-4 (that's roughly, can't guarantee getting in on time) ... because of: the sh1te public transport.

The earliest bus gets there at 10.30. The last bus home leaves at 4pm.

Sorry but it sounds to me your picky. I'd rather do crap work than be on the dole personally.
You can ride a bike can't you? Postmen ride bikes aswell! Sorting mail doesn't involve driving:rolleyes:
