I'm sure it's just a typing error but the MSP is Fergus Ewing. I really hope you get some decent results, have you left any reviews on Trip Advisor, in the General Forum in the UK Forum.1

To add to Sutch's list I also wrote to Rip Off Britain.

And please can I give a big thanks to Sutch who seems to be working so hard to shame this appalling company, LHH Scotland, and hopefully make the owner and her legal advisor see sense and refund peoples' money.2 -

Thanks for the encouraging comments. Any success however will be the result of a concerted effort by us all. This afternoon I spoke to Jane Bradley at "The Scotsman" to put my personal view on this debacle. I also received an acknowledgement and reference number from the Scottish Government Case handling service.1

Be very careful you are chasing the correct company. Look on Companies House, LHHScotland Ltd is a dormant company.0

Hello all,Just joined and wanted to say hello and give a quick account of our experience with LHH.Booked Machair Cottage in North Uist last year for two weeks, had a great time, really nice cottage and friendly owners. Did the same for this year and like all of you could not attend because of the pandemic. We obviously contacted LHH who we had paid in full (£1300) and got a rather abrupt no refunds reply. Their stock answer was take it up with your insurers.I haven't read through every page here yet but it seems that the response from them is inconsistent to say the least. Some have been offered their deposit back some not, we were initially not offered anything other than the opportunity to re-book for "some time after August 2021" which lets be honest, by that time, LHH could have folded and started back up as someone else. Plus they would have my money in their account for over 12 months and why is that acceptable.Eventually they then offered us a 50% refund, which seems to be more than a lot got, but still not good enough.I had the mobile number and the email address of the cottage owner and LHH were at pains to point out that my contract was with the owner, not LHH, and they were acting as agents for the owners, though its LHH who issue invoices and receipts. So, I repeatedly added the owners into the email chains and LHH repeatedly removed them. Odd, seen as they are the contract holders. We tried calling the owners and have never had a single response. LHH wouldn't even tell us who had our money, them or the owner.Throughout, they have maintained an arrogance and antagonistic attitude to us as a customer and I would strongly dissuade anyone from using them in the future. To be clear, we managed to take out insurance literally a few hours before they stopped taking policies that covered this pandemic and even then we have had to fight for months to get anywhere, but they did a couple of weeks ago pay out minus the £150 excess. LHH had said that they would cover any excess shortfalls on insurance payouts, and we will be doing this, out of sheer bloody mindedness. So, I recognise that we are luckier that most in that we have had an insurance pay out but the fact remains that LHH pulled the shutters down and kept our money. It is unjust and appears to go against the spirit of the advice given from the government. If I can help by lending my voice, then happy to help.Craig4
