Can I claim on overfilling an engine with oil, that was an accident

And what evidence do you have that a garage wrecked the OP's car?fred246 said:This is getting silly. It's a serious issue when a garage wrecks your car.
I'll tell you. None whatsoever so the only reasons for this thread "getting silly" is you and your obvious dislike for any and all garages.0 -
I only advise on doing it yourself to get the job done right. I don't advise do it yourself to get the job done wrong.0

So you can guarantee anyone other than a qualified mechanic will get it right? Tell you what, I'll come and attempt to service your car. If I muck it up, you have no claim on me and will sign a disclaimer to indemnify me?fred246 said:I only advise on doing it yourself to get the job done right. I am absolutely useless at that type of thing...0 -

"Can I claim on overfilling an engine with oil, that was an accident
I have a diesel car and had a breakdown, where it has been diagnosed after an engine strip down as hydraulic failure. Do I have a claim? "Nigel21 has not returned to this, which does not surprise me: it's turned into a debating society.*He has not explained WHO overfilled the engine oil, but the 'accident' part probably means he did it.*Not explained the nature of the claim he wishes to make.*"diagnosed after an engine strip down" sounds as if (I hope) a professional garage has done that work.Without much more information, we cannot really help. As he has not returned to the thread, I don't think that information will be forthcoming. I suggest that this thread should now close. Certainly I won't be returning to it.
I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Of course we can’t conclude that. There are only 64 hits of the phrase, that’s negligible.fred246 said:Regardless of daft arguments over googling we can conclude that garages overfilling oil is a significant problem. There are also 30.4 million hits on "garage forgot oil". So this too is a massive problem. Surprisingly "garage underfilled oil" only has 397,000. So it seems that garages forgetting to put oil in is a greater problem than overfilling which is commoner than under filling. Why bother with all that? Just DO IT YOURSELF and know THE JOB'S BEEN DONE RIGHT.
The reason that I don’t want to do it myself is that I’d need a car lift, and to be able to drop the floor and diffuser out without damaging them, something that’s not easy.0 -
