Our kids have nothing for Christmas from us and now I am feeling a little mean! Obviously they have their skiing, but I think maybe I should text OH and at least get him to pick up a couple of selection boxes :o

Ali, go on then, the pukka pie theory......please!!

Nothing???? NOT TRUE !!!!! They may not have any commercial plastic tat from you to open, but they have a loving happy family, a set of parents who are working flat out to provide for them and setting them a fantastic example of how to work for what you get in life ;) Never underestimate what you give your children hypno :D:D

Completely agree Benben!!! They have everything any child could wish for - a loving supportive family who would do anything for them and they are fully aware of that love and support.

Hi Taxi! Long time no hear! Hope you are well, and that you have a very good Christmas!

Sea and benben, I *know* all of that, but just felt momentarily guilty. OH got paid an extra £20 cash in hand yesterday for helping a mate out, so he is going out in his lunchbreak to spend that on the kids. Reasonable compromise I think.

Flitting between slice the pie, and admin, while the children watch christmas films and wrap up presents. Am up to £3 on slice the pie - won't be making huge overpayments on the basis of that one!!

You devote your life to them. Many children would give parts of their bodies for even a small fraction of that. Do you think giving plastic tat made in China is going to make a difference?

  • Good compromise but as for feeling that they have nothing I think the skiing is a huge sacrifice for all & its an awful lot of money to spend! Plus when you think of their sprting actvities, equipment, going away money they probably do better than most so please do stop feeling guilty!! Music thing sounds interesting but I can understand how it gets boring quickly!

Hiya! Just having a quick 10 minute catch-up before another marathon try-to-get-everything done (unsuccessfully) session!

Haven't had time to read the entire 10000-odd pages I've missed, but sounds as though all's going well. I'm afraid that I'm with you on the one about the kids Xmas pressies Hypno - it certainly isn't necessary to spend thousands on them, but it's nice for them to have something to open on Xmas morning. I don't think anyone could say spending £20 or so is excessive - go bargain hunting at the last minute when all the sale prices have started!

Hope all the Hypno family and everyone else here has a fantastic Christmas!

Thanks guys - the compromise has been made. Guinness book of records for DS and clothes from primark for DD.

Thanks for all the reminders about what I am doing with the skiing etc. The children never ever complain about going without in order to do this, that is why, in a way, I want to give them something small on Christmas day, because they are SO sure that they won't get anything, it would be lovely to surprise them, just a bit.
