Just thought I had more or less got my money to work then realised I need to pay out for the baby shower I’m organising! It’s going to be around £200, I also haven’t thought about half term!!! Really need to get some money from somewhere! Trying to think if I have anything to sell. I think I’m going to try and sell at least 10 things on eBay tomorrow, mind you to make £200 it best be more like 40 🤦🏻♀️.2

£200 is a lot for a baby shower. What exactly do you need to pay for? Can you reduce the cost at all?1

It is. I’ve had to pay someone to do the food as I absolutely haven’t got time to do it so that’s £120, I’ve got to hire tables and chairs £60. I’ve got to get table cloths and balloons and drinks. So yeah, pretty expensive!1

Are other people helping with the cost of the baby shower? It seems such a lot.Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

It really is expensive, I know, I know, but No, her OH said he would pay some but I know they have no money and are expecting twins, and she’s self employed and had to stop work already. She was going to organise it herself, She doesn’t really get on with her family, I couldn’t have her do that. She’s a good friend and I just felt really sorry for her. I didn’t expect it to be so expensive I must admit, but it’s my own doing. And I’m committed now. So will try and do what I can to save money on anything I can. And obv try and make some money up on EBay etc. OH is working this afternoon so it gives me time to do it. I have plenty to sell. Not sure if it’s 40 items but I can give it a good go.
I'm going to use OHs card for shopping this week and try and rein things in as much as I can.1 -
I totally understand the obligation, but I also try to remember that peoples ideas of broke are all different. Some people think they are broke with lots of savings they won’t touch, some think they are broke when it’s to the wire every month and some think they are broke when they are spending more than they have. You may feel sorry for her, but does she feel sorry for you and not want you to struggle either? If her husband has offered then it may be worth taking him up on a share? Or not, just something to think about. You sound like a really good friend ⭐️Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Thank you @WinterWarrior. I really appreciate your comments. If he mentions it again I will ask him for £50. But I’ll assume not. So OH has to go out for an hour. So I’m making the most of that time and finding stuff to eBay. Have taken one photo so far 😅 but I’ve started. I’ll try and do all of the photos whilst he’s out as that gives me a time frame and then post them whilst he’s working later.I’ve done 2 loads of washing. Just waiting for the second one to finish and I’ll hang it up outside. I’m hoping they’ll dry!1

Ok have taken pictures of 20 things to list on eBay. I’ve just done my sums and I need eBay to make me £126. Ideally £200 so that the extra money can go on Xmas presents but we’ll see how it goes.Does anyone know the cheapest place to get party table cloths and napkins and plates etc from?1

Amazon or any local party places or charity shops?1

Do places like poundland do that sort of thing. From memory they used to have a celebration type area. Might be worth a tryMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
