Having a rather huge financial melt down. Main business and second business are not doing well at all. May have to fold the smaller business, as it’s just not worth the time and effort…. Been speaking to OH about it, now going to bed somewhat depressed and stressed!
  • So sorry to hear that, but sometimes cutting your losses is the right thing to do. The sunken cost fallacy has a lot to answer for and it’s very hard to let go when you’ve thrown so much into it. Don’t be frightened to let go if you need to. Things will get better, they always do x

Hugs Missy, sounds like a difficult time, but WinterWarrior is right, sometimes you have to cut your losses so you can move on xx

Sorry to hear things are difficult.  I agree with the others.  Freeing up time and headspace from something that is taking up too much resources will mean you can put more effort into the remaining business or look for other opportunities.

Hope you are feeling a bit better soon.

Thank you lovely peeps, really appreciate you posting. I think it’s worth keeping hold of, just. We’re going to advertise next week and see what happens…. Have our business mentor coming over tomorrow for a meeting so hopefully that will throw up some more ideas.

Not quite sure how I’m going to afford Xmas…. I have so much more to get……

Looking at things we can change. Food shopping has crept up again, lights are being left on, coffee shops are being frequented. So all of that needs to change. My fingers were hovering over the buy button on 4 sports bras….. which although reduced were £80. So I’ve just bought one off of eBay for £10. I may get another pink one…. But have a £10 limit. I’m not sure I NEED one though…..

Need to get back in the ebay wagon at the weekend hopefully that might help pay for Xmas! I’ve chased up a potential customer but yet to hear back. I’ve put off cancelling someone on Friday so that’s another £27 I wouldn’t have had.

it’s going to be a tough few months. It’s also Roos birthday in 3 weeks! Best get back on those surveys too!

@missymoo81 - remember Xmas is a time to be with family and have fun - it's not about spending loads of money.  At the end of the day the main event, Christmas dinner, is just a glorified Sunday roast.  You don't have to have a turkey or 2 or 3 different joints which you'll be eating into the new year!

The only people you really need to buy presents for are the children but they don't need loads spent on them.  Give yourself a challenge of buying them loads of little presents (charity shops and Ebay are your friends here) and spending a small set amount.

I know clothes don't seem like presents sometimes but buy the children clothes they need as presents alongside the small gifts.  Presents can easily be done for a few pounds per child.

Make sure you don't get yourself into debt for Christmas - at the end of the day it's just ONE day out of 365!  You don't want to be paying for it all next year and then repeating it all over again.

Hope you can make a decision about your second business after meeting with your mentor but if it's not making money it makes sense, as others have said, to wind it up.

I do this.  My two love opening presents so I just bulk up the 'proper' gifts with things they need such as clothes, toiletries, sweets etc.  They are happy with their gifts and also get the fun of opening parcels.

I know of course you’re both right. I just have my heart set in a couple of things. I won’t use a credit card as havent for 3 years and don’t intend to start again so just need to find a way to earn a little more. But you’re right with clothes. I need to get Roo a new dressing gown and that will be part of his present, I’ve already gotten him some t-shirts.

Have a v long day ahead of me wil be at work for 10 hours. Won’t finish until 1930 😢

Ok yesterday was ok, sorted out dinner and everything else. Even managed to get in the hot tub. Need to look at financials and see how I’m going to afford the rest of the month. Just found out need to pay £20 for Mays dancing exam. Feeling a bit rough today as have a cold. Have hours of training to do in a bit, am looking forward to going home and sleeping.
