Feeling totally miserable again. I wonder if there’s a pattern to how I feel?

I know a lot of it is because it’s the holidays, I haven’t been able to go to the gym much but OH has managed. I’ve just realised I do nothing for me it’s all about everyone else, money, time… everything. And it’s really getting me down. Even if I made time and had the money I don’t know what I’d do……I’m so caught up in sorting everything and everyone else out.
I'm well aware I’m turning 40 in less than a month…. And I think that’s got a lot to do with it 😢.
I hope you are feeling better today.  It's so easy to get stuck into sorting everyone else out and forgetting about yourself, but it's equally important otherwise you'll get burnt out.  Just something small like sitting alone with a drink, having a bath, going for a walk, or reading a book/magazine?  Turning 40's not all bad :)

  • Hi Missy,

Don't think jwil could have put it any better. I was apprehensive turning 40 late last year but its not been as awful as expected. You've done a lot of firefighting these past few months that I wonder if you should consciously put time and resources aside for you. I've got into mindfulness and self value stuff and come to realise that investing in ourselves is really important to do even though at times it can feel a little selfish. What about a little home pampering, mini treat of some sort?

Your age is just a number.  A far less significant one than your debts, if you can look at it that way.  As long as you avoid the mutton dressed as lamb thing, then it really is just a number.  You are the only one who cares how old you are - seriously - no-one else cares.

Thank you to all of your lovely messages. I am currently on holiday in wales, it took 6 hours to get here yesterday. I’m very much trying to relax. But me and OH have already argued and are in the ‘I’m not really talking to you unless I have to to be polite’, point of the argument.

We have a week off next week but no plans and don’t want to go home. We thought about risking going abroad but it turns out my Covid vaccs are in my old name so don’t match my passport. I can change them but it will prob take too long. We only decided this morning that we could possibly go abroad, and I’m not bothered at all by the fact we prob can’t but OH is very grumpy and cross about it and I’m wondering what was the point of coming on holiday at all, we could have just been grumpy and cross with eachother at home.

so I’m going to spend this time reading and reflecting and coming up with future plans. As @Cheery_Daff would say, plotting and scheming!

Going to drink some wine and continue to ignore OH 🤦🏻‍♀️

If you already are having a holiday it seems mad to be in a grump about not having a holiday 😂
I would much prefer Wales…abroad seems like too much faff right now. I hope you are somewhere nice. You have wine and books, you just need some Welsh delicacies and you’ve got it made 🍫

Well indeed @WinterWarrior it’s the fact we have a very rare two weeks off and cf course we want to make the most of it. But it’s so difficult to do anything at the moment! With all the restrictions.

I have wine and books, but a load of caravans have pulled up in the farmers field next door and are playing v loud music! So feels like we’re at a festival. Not at all tranquil and serene! So have had to complain already, really not off to a good start. If it hadn’t taken us so long to get here or cost money I would happily go home!

Oh no, what a pain. I bet the loud caravan people’s neighbours back at home are breathing a sigh of relief!

So if anyone has any thoughts on what we can do next week 20-27 Aug, where we can stay that won’t break the bank but is away from it all then please let me know. I’m mildly concerned I don’t hVe all enough books, I’m 3/4 of the way through one and I only bought 5…..

Come down to Somerset. It's a lovely county and doesn't get as crazy busy as Devon and Cornwall :)
