How much do you spend on meat?

It seems pretty good value to me, just been trying to work out my average spend on meat, but had to give up as I usually buy a lamb, half a pig and part of a cow as a job lot and then use as and when, and supplement it with stuff from the farm shop and sometimes the supermarket.
Why not try ordering it and see how long it lasts - depends on whether all your meals contain meat, portion sizes and how far you stretch a joint I guess! You will then have a better idea of whether it is good value for your family.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

I don't spend more than £10 per month on red meat or chicken. I live on my own and don't eat a lot of meat because I believe we don't need it more than once or twice a week. Also, I eat out for work reasons quite a lot and sometimes I eat meat that way.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

I'd like to find more reasonably priced free range chicken - that's my biggest expense at the moment, meat-wise.My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
We are a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 young children) and eat meat pretty much every day at this time of year. We spend around £15-£20 a week on meat. This week, which is an average week, I have bought a joint, stewing beef, stewing pork, sausages, minced beef and bacon.0

never actually counted the costs of buying meat. i would say £60 per month give or take.
pork escalopes i get from tescos, also get willow chicken breasts there and a whole chicken now and again.
pork mince...tescos
beef mince i get from the local shop because it comes from a good farm in the area. sausages for dh are also from the same farm and the bacon plus lorne sausage is good. kiddies are still on the lawsons (or was it halls) skinless sausages!
thats for feeding one adult four kiddies since i dont eat meat but dont mind a streaky bacon roll providing the bacon is done to a crisp!0 -
Forgot to say that we have at least 1-2 veggie meals a week. Normally it's egg & chips or beans/cheese on jacket etc. Also have made a few veggie chillis which are lovely.

Thanks everyone, will order it and see how we get on with it. W don't eat meat every day, about 3 meals a week are fish, or meatless, so it should last us about 6 weeks or so, apart from the bacon:rotfl: (that will be gone in a shot)
At least I am not on my own not knowing how much spend goes on meat, will have to look for a good online fish provider now too:cool:grocery challenge Sept 2012 £21/£3990
