£30 to £ 40 per week.
Yesterday £41 bought:
500g braising steak
2 large rib eye steaks
700g skinless chicken breast (FR)
small (800g) gammon joint
12 sausages
450g bacon rashers
Looking at it in the cold light of day this looks expensive, especially as we have already eaten 2 steaks, half the chicken, half the bacon, 4 sausages and the beef is casseroled for tomorrow............oh and I have a FR range chicken ready to roast for tonight.
There are only 3 of us.0 -
Surely it depends entirely on how much meat you eat
We eat meat every week but not every day. Probably 3 meat meals, 1-2 fish meals and the rest veg meals with maybe a bit of bacon or meat stock.
I probably spend roughly £15 a week on meat for a family of 5.0 -
We spend what we can afford. If we have a nice roast (eg silverside on Friday, costing £6) we will then make sure that none is wasted, so we now have two lots of meat for sandwiches in fridge and also another 2 in freezer. We tend to eat less meat these days, and more veg, parially cost reasons, partially health, and I'd always prefer less good meat than more crap meat!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

We get an order from a local farm for about £70 and it lasts us about 6 to 8 weeks......this includes joints for Sun etc. We don`t eat meat everyday though and will get 2 or 3 different meals from the joint we cook on a Sun.
Like others I would rather have less meat than lots of cheap rubbish meat everyday.0 -

Yes me too! From what I can see all the meat on this website is ethically raised and outdoor, chicken seems to be free range too
I was just hoping someone would cast an expert eye over it that was all, as I am new to budgeting. Anyway, managed to check myself on My supermarket and it seems a good deal, I could of course get it cheaper by buying "value, basics, SP meat" but I don't want to do that, I would have only saved £10 I think paying the extra is well worth it.
Will let you know what the company is like anyway,
Thank you xgrocery challenge Sept 2012 £21/£3990 -
Well, just off the top of my head in one week I would use (family of four)
One large chicken or a roasting joint ~ £7.00
One lb bacon~£5.00
8-10 sausages ~£3.00
4 pork chops or beef steaks or similar.~£3.00-5.00
One lb mince ~£3.00.
So about £23 per week, absolute max? Some weeks half that, depending on the deals availible. There would be fish as well at least once. Averaged out probably £15 per week, say.Val.0 -
I often get mine from costco , just bought 2.2kg of scotch mince beef for £9.76 (£3 off with voucher) and 2 roast chickens for £6ish,
the meat isnt always the cheapest but it is good quality.
probably spend about £20 -£30 a month on meat . but we dont eat meat everyday.0 -
