How much do you spend on meat?

I buy mince in bulk and bag it into 250-300g portions for me, hubby, 10 year old (who eats more than me) and 2 year old (tiny appetite). Each will do a spag bol/ chilli/ meatballs etc with veg added.
A 1kg joint of boneless pork/ beef will feed us all with second's and leftovers, need a biger joint if it has a bone in.
I tend to buy a 1.5k- 2kg chicken and again we have a sunday lunch and leftovers.
No idea about chops as we don't buy those, but for a casserole/ stir fry etc I'd buy about 100g a person and will add veg etc. This is probably less than many recipes etc suggest but I add lots of veg and carbs and non of us is wasting away!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Price wise I pay £4 kg for lean (5% fat) minced steak, £2.80 kg for pork steaks, £3.50 kg for shoulder of pork joint, £4 kg lamb shoulder, £5 kg diced lamb and about £2.30 kg whole chicken.
I paid £30 last friday for meat for 3 weeks...People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I would suggest drawing up a monthly meal plan so you know exactly what you will need and don't end up with surplus (which of course, you could freeze) or even worse, not enough for what your family will want.Love and compassion to all x0

That's about what I'd expect to pay for the same sort of meat at my butcher's. However, yes it is expensive because free-range meat is expensive. A price worth paying IMO;)0

£7.99 for whole organic chicken or similar poultry (usually, other types are cheaper but smaller).0

I'd pay about £7-£8 for that from my local butcher but it isn't free range and not all of it is locally sourced, although he does only sell British meat.Dum Spiro Spero0

We don't eat meat/fish every day, but I think our weekly amount would be something like this:
1 joint OR two packs of casserole meat (up to £8, it does several meals)
1 pack mince or premium sausages (£2)
1 pack bacon (usually back bacon, not the cheapest) (£2)
Either 1 pack of meat pieces or fish (£5)
So, that's an average of £17 a week. It used to be twice that, but I have cut back on quantity and also don't buy things like duck breasts and steak any more!Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -
