The only problem with reading this forum is that, sometimes, I end up second-guessing myself a ton ...

The house I'm buying was on at "offers over 150k." I started by offering £150k, they said no; I upped it to £153k, they said no ... the EA told me that the vendor was looking for £158k. We ended up agreeing on £156.5k after just a couple of hours of these negotiations. It's absolutely worth it to me (lovely 3 bed house in an area I like, no chain to worry about, and I knew that I'd have been heartbroken to lose out on it) but I do keep fussing that I should've left my second offer on the table for a few days.

Problem is there is no way to know. You could have left the second offer and then lost the house. Its really difficult that you cant ever know what the right course of action is! Im struggling with the whole idea of bartering, declining a house over a few grand and kicking myself later!

Im a ftb, still looking for the right house. Multiple viewings booked this week and some of them look really positive and to be honest thats freaking me out! The last few viewings its been easy to say no, and the idea that we might actually like one scares me!

Our valuation was done by an AVM, was one of the first things completed by the sounds! So hopefully yours has already been done too 🤞🏻
I've just had an email to say our mortgage has been underwritten but the underwriter has some questions. Things like telling him what my DD's and Regular Payments are on bank statements, explaining how my husband and I have been unaffected income wise by Covid and asking for Accountant's Certificate (Husband is Director of his own Ltd Company) This is not helping the nerves, but at least I know it's being looked at! However, no doubt our case will now g to the bottom of the pile whilst they wait for the info to be uploaded! Boo

The Covid question seems to be a standard these days, YBS asked me the same thing.

Almost four weeks into the purchase process and there's no sign of the draft contract yet. Asked my solicitor this morning and she said she'd chase.

I'm trying so, so hard to be patient; I know it's still early days. But, wahhhh, I want to be in before mid-July ...

I cant imagine how stressful it must all be for you. I am the worst for waiting for stuff to happen! Fingers crossed your solicitor manages to rustle up the contract for you!

I have just received my official mortgage offer yesterday so all systems go again! Paid for my solicitors to commence on the searches and for the draft contract to be drawn up. Exciting! Would love to be in mid to end of July also!

    Hellooo all,
I've been lurking on forums and following this thread. FTB too and our mortgage application went in with HSBC, I presume 27th May and waiting for whether they've accepted us. Valuation was done last Wednesday. Mortgage adviser has said they have ok'd hubby's accounts etc (self employed) and now going through mine (employed but swapped jobs in April, still same line of work).
I'm a bit concerned as much as MA has said its looking ok so far, I went and checked my Experian report and I noticed four soft searches by HSBC in the last week, one also stated 'employment check' which I thought was odd because I'm quite sure employment details don't go on your credit report? Am I wrong here?
@Abbiejo I noticed that you had your application with HSBC, have you heard anything yet?
