It's shocking how stressful "sitting around, doing nothing, and waiting" gets.
I emailed my solicitor again on Friday for a progress update, and their response was "I just got the draft contract from the solicitor and will send you a copy". Does this mean they've had it for days and they're only getting around to it because I reminded them? I guess it doesn't actually matter in the long run, but still ...
They've finally gotten the ball rolling on the searches, at least! Fingers crossed they don't take months.1 -

I am not sure where you are in the UK but my searches went in on the 10th and came back on the 19th which is pretty damn rapid so fingers crossed your council are just as efficient!
I rang my solicitor Friday late afternoon for an update and it turns out that everyone is still waiting for the vendor to fill in his documents!!! Not happy at all!! He is literally holding everything up! Everyone is chomping at the bit to get moving as we all have our deadline of the 22nd July to work to (all solicitors and parties agree that this date is definitely doable pending he hands the documents in this week). He wants to complete on this sale asap so how the heck ticking a few boxes and scanning over evidence of extensions takes 3 weeks I dont know!!!! Want to go to his house and slap him into gear!Debt Remaining: £8,781.53

They've finally gotten the ball rolling on the searches, at least! Fingers crossed they don't take months.Ha yes it’s very frustrating the waiting game! But hurrah on draft contract 😁 love a bit of good news even if it’s not mine.I am very much like this with my MA especially since last week when they did a ‘Back to the Future’ trick on me and that the forwarded message from the underwriter appeared to be about 30minutes after the email they sent. They made out they’d just got it through, 30minutes from the future! Can’t even blame time difference from wherever underwriters are sat! 🙄 Not pulled them up for that little bit of dishonesty.0 -
I'm currently in London, moving back "home" to East Yorkshire. My solicitor told me that there's delays to searches at the moment (for understandable reasons) but didn't give me any more details.
They're supposed to take no more than 10 days, I think? So if they're delayed, I'm anticipating a 15~20 day wait, and then more for any enquiries.0 -
After an anxious wait, the vendor has finally submitted his contract pack after a few kicks up the butt by everyone involved to his solicitors so now the ball can once again start rolling with enquiries! Looking very hopeful for a completion on or before the 22nd July according to what they have seen so far 😆

Do you have far to move when the day comes? I've been scouring the forum trying to find people who're making cross country moves like me.1 -

There must be a lot more pressure with moving across the country! Are you moving for work or to be closer to family?Debt Remaining: £8,781.53

I'm only looking at properties and haven't made an offer yet but I am hella worried because I only have 10%. I am looking at the bottom range. am needing to move a commute away and saving another 5% would take me in excess of a year. I really want to buy now, been waiting for this for so long. It's so scary as the lender can just pull out even after the MiP and I'll have spent ££££ on a survey. Sooo stressful0

Fixtures and fittings form AND the environmental search results dropped through my letterbox today, HURRAH. It finally feels like we're starting to take babysteps towards the end. The form suggests that they're leaving me oven, which I was honestly the most concerned about. Hopefully it really will still be there when I arrange a visit to take measurements!
Gemma -- I'm moving to be closer to family. I'm super fortunate in that my work has offices all around the country (and were already tuned into flexible/remote working anyway).
Hannimal -- good luck! Do you have a broker? I've heard there are still a few 10% deals out there.1 -
Hi all. I’m a nervous FTB too! I was so so nervous before we got our mortgage offer but I think I’m even more nervous now. We’re supposed to be getting our keys on Friday but I’ve been reading about people’s mortgages being revoked on completion day so that’s now my new panic!0
