he he sorry don't want to make you jealous I should have said I have three locations I look for work in, my own home, boyfriend's house and parents which covers midlands, east anglia and south coast, so I have quite a few I should see. However that makes it even worse for me that I have tried logging in loads of times (with and without alerts) to not find any jobs posted.0 -

Even though you've editted this, I still can't work out what you mean! Mind boggles (or should that be the other end!...)0 -

Hi, This is a great thread, very useful thanks. I need some extra dosh, not much, so thought I would have a go at some of this work.
Anyway, I have an assignment with GR next week, all sounds ok and results can be passed online. I also signed up for GAP, did various training briefings then accepted an assignment only to realise I need to scan or fax the results on a form I need to print. Arghhh! It's because I got over excited when I saw a few jobs available in my area.So my question is this...
Fax or scanner? I will have to buy one especially for this work, but I am not sure we would use either for anything else. Do the MS companies generally require forms completed and sent? Are there others like GR who don't?
I have waded through 25 pages here so far, but must away to bed soon! Thanks very much for all the help so far.0 -

Seasprite - if you look around you can find printer/scanner/fax all in one for very reasonable prices. I got a Lexmark X5470 which I am very pleased with. it cost less than £40 and it has been very useful!!0 -

If you have a digital camera or camera phone and if you think you would be able to get a good enough picture and then transferring to your PC. This can may work as well.
Try it, try taking a photo of a recipt you have at home, take a picture, transfer to PC and see what it looks like. If you think you get a good enough picture to see the receipt that maybe sufficient as all they need a picture of the receipt0 -

Hi Seasprite, welcome to the world of MSing! Well done for reading through the thread so far; too many new MSers are not willing to read any of it which is not the best way of starting off - already you'll have picked up a load of stuff which you won't realise until you begin shopping!
I'd recommend getting a printer/scanner too - it is a major benefit and you can pick them up for next to nothing. Most importantly I'd get a scanner if I were you; they're so cheap you'll be really pleased you bought one when you need it for the first time!
Using a camera is fine though - I find if you put your receipt underneath a piece of glass (from a small picture frame or similar) and take a picture of it that way, the glass holds the receipt flat while you're snapping - the MSing company won't complain then. I've had one company moan at me for a not-the-best quality picture before when I couldn't be bothered to connect the scanner up!
Be sure to ask on this thread if you need any help in the future, we've all been there and done that with most of the companies at some point or another so we should be able to help! Hopefully you'll stick around to help new people too when you're comfortable with it all....0
