Guys think twice about A&L; they're so pants it hurts!

Their internet banking leaves a lot to be desired and they're not a clearing bank so everything seems to take longer for them to do.

Try going with First Direct - you get £100 if you move your main current account to them too. Sounds like a hassle but they're so brilliant I couldn't recommend them more highly (nor could 95% or something of their customers!)

    I couldn't agree more!

I had an A&L account and when I sold my house last year I put all the proceeds into my account whilst I figured out what to do with it.

I then didn't put in the £500 a month (basically because I changed banks) and got charged for it! Admittedly, I know it was against the T&Cs but considering that I had a five figure sum in there at that time I thought that at least they'd waive it. Did they hell!

Quick question re gap pizza job (dine in - the cheaper one), am i right in thinking you can do them on your own ?

Yep no reason why not. If you take anyone else they have to order and pay separately anyway, unless they have the same thing (to not affect order times). I never quite got that though, because if you sit together but pay separately, surely the staff should still wait until their pineapple filled Italian crust pizza was ready to bring out the food?

Hmm not happy with Gap. They phoned last week begging me to do some "stamp shop" jobs this week. I have 4 booked today and tomorrow all in different areas.

Just reading the briefs and it says I have to pay with a specific debit card. I don't have a debit card with any of the banks on their list. I have a Halifax or a NatWest card. Why do you think they ask us to use a specific card?

So I've just had to cancel them all. Not happy at all.

The last question on the requirements section asks you if you have one of the following cards and proceeds to list all the ones that you can use at the stamp place. So you must have said "yes" to that question or it won't let you accept any stamp jobs at all, regardless of whether you pay by cash or card, it's on every job.

I like the fact that with GFK you can delete any jobs you don't want to do so they don't always show up when you search.

I did not know you can do that. How do you do it?

I have one of these booked in for next week and as far as I can see from my paperwork, the only thing you can't buy is saving stamps, so I would guess at yes, but don't quote me on it cos it is just a guess. I was planning on buying £10 worth of euros as I'm off to Dublin in a couple of weeks as this was suggested earlier on in this forum. You could always email them and ask :rotfl: ;)

Thats interesting 'cos I did one today and my paperwork said I could definitley NOT buy foreign currency, but that I could buy saving stamps! Trying to keep us on our toes?

I did not think that you can buy saving stamps with a debit card? I have one of these booked next month so I will have to double check what you can and cannot buy then. I did get an email about the stamp shops saying that they have changed so I will see.

I once said "no" to the question about debit cards, since I do not have one of those, but thought that I would be able to do the cash assignments anyway. But it disqualified me from choosing any of those jobs. However, I made an enquiry to Gap and they told me to choose "yes" instead and they reset the form for me which I thought was really nice of them.

Did anyone get this email today:

"We have some of our best restaurant assignments available in your area and we would like you to have them.

These restaurant assignments are our premium jobs and we need someone that will read the paperwork, order from the assignment selection and not only make sure they get their receipt, but also make sure they have the correct receipt!

That is why we are asking you!!"

Well if they are so extra special PREMIUM and important then why don't they pay us for it!!
