GRASSROOTS Payment has finally gone in for me!!!! for what its worth anyway!!!
I really don't know how they have a business from the number of assignments they do, but hey I just might be missing them all, but they really do seem to have the least jobs of all major companies0 -
I like GFK, I've done a few shops for them for the Aquaeous Bookmaker.
I find their paperwork clear and concise and they paid me on time!0 -
Yeah I made a tidy profit on 4 "urgent" bookmaters for GFK over the weekend, if ever they ring up for a job, push for extra money, they are usually quite willing if desperate.
Plus, you get to keep the winnings which is a bonus if you manage to win, I won £120 odd for RE bookies before Christmas on a football accumulator, was very happy indeed!!!!!0 -
Can I please ask a question re: mileage expenses. If I do a 26 mile round trip (according to google maps) and earn £5 for a job. The mileage expenses come up as £10.40 (40p per mile).
Thus I have made a loss on a job (on paper). How does this go through the tax system. Presumably I wouldn't have to pay anything on that job?
Sorry for being thick but any advice is appreciated.0 -
No you wouldn't, on that job - BUT be careful about doing jobs like this all of the time as you don't want to report a loss to HMRC if you can help it, it just looks funny for such a small turnover to be making a loss.
(It's not wrong, just avoid it if possible!)0 -
Bit of a thick question.
RE recently had some American Restaurants on. They say it is only for 2 adults. Would it be a problem if I took a little 1 with me too, and paid for his food separately? Or should I just cancel the visit as I am having to look after him this weekend.
Ta muchly.0 -
I would probably cancel because ordering separately and on a separate receipt may (a) look at bit funny to the waitress and (b) may effect your service timings
I personally don't see why you can't take a child but its the client that decides!!!!!!0 -

Thanks for the quick reply. Would I be better adjusting my mileage rate so that I make neither a profit or loss when I come to do my tax return. Presumably, as long as I don't go over 40p per mile, this shouldn't be a problem (or is this dodgy as well?)
Sorry for the questions but have only done 1 job and have never been self-employed before!0 -
As long as you don't go over 40p per mile, you can claim anything per mile although I'd have some sort of strategy about it; claiming 27.54p per mile's also going to look weird!
I wouldn't worry too much about it all anyway - the 'concerns' I raise are purely based on if an investigation were to happen, which is about as likely as GAP paying reasonable rates!0 -
Thanks very much Timmne - Much appreciated.
Final question (if I may) - Do I need to provide receipts from petrol stations to prove I bought the fuel?0
