just thought id pass this warning on to everyone here...

i had a suspicious email from a company today asking me to complete a mystery shop for western union. they wanted to send me what i suspect to be a fake money order to cover the cost. they then wanted me to transfer some money via western union.
only after that would i discover from my bank that the money order has bounced, leaving me out of pocket.

be aware of companies offering to reimburse you before you've done the shop, unless its a reputable company you've used before who do this to cover the costs of large purchases, flights etc

What matters most is how well you walk through the fire

Just need a bit of advice please...........
I did a sports shop for RE and completed the questionnaire. But I forgot to complete one of the tasks and (oopsy) put on the notes that I did. The other day I noticed that the payment had gone from my payments pending and I had not received it. A couple of days later I got an email saying could I phone them because they had a query. It turned out to be something else which I clarified for them and they were fine about it. At 6pm last night I got another email from them saying they had a query, but with the same number to quote. The office was closed so I've waited till I've come home from work today. I just checked my bank and they've paid me today. Should I still ring up about the query? Could they take the payment back off me if I don't?
    Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked :)
  • You should ring up regardless because they will need to resolve whatever query they have.....doubt it will be about what your thinking, and not sure if there "numbers to quote" relate to specific assigments or the order in which issues are raised on their system, so it might not even be about that assignment, especially if you've already been paid for it!!!

Ooh got myself a pub job on TNS today - my first for them. Counting down to my first MS this weekend!

Big thanks to everyone who has posted in this thread - the hours I have spent reading from post 1 through to 2707 have been well worth it!

I saw someone in Tescos today taking lots of photos of the fruit and veg with a camera phone. Would he have been a mystery shopper? He was very casually dressed and not at all subtle about what he was doing. It seemed strange. Anyone know what he was doing?

Maybe they're starting to realise no one wants them for the pittance of a fee they usually offer :P

I did one this morning and yes you do have to check the fruit & veg to see if it's good enough to buy, but not take pictures! We're called mystery shoppers for a reason!
