"If you are comfortable delivering approximately 2,000 well-written words in exchange for a great meal in an upscale restaurant"
Two points about this one.
1. Are you sure there is work available in the UK? Seems very very geared to the US - they even expect you to use US search engines, which tell you only about US dineries, before you go out to dinner!
2. If you DO apply, write your paragraphs in Word and then paste them in. Then if you have to go back a page, you will frustate the web designer who designed the stupid application form so that you lose all your data if you rely on the form
Quite frankly, if they design their input forms like this, I have no desire whatsoever to work for them....... (sorry Leila!)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
They have work in London, and they have an excellent reputation. It is also not easy to get in but when you do it is worth the wait. This is according to a friend of mine. Unfortunately I can't do fine dinning at the moment since I have a little toddler who thinks it is fun to rub food on the table and to put the empty plate on her head!!
How about this one (to a slightly different market)?

I've done a job for Market Public before. They don't pay a fee, just the reimburse the cost of the food and drink you have to purchase. Here I go again on my own....0

They do have work in London - about 3 restaurants and 2 hotels. You cannot do them more than twice a year. The pay is not much, they reimburse in full but demand a minute-by-minute account of the visit - sometimes up to 10,000 words.
Not worth it!0 -
Crikey! Not worth it at all then! MSing companies who pay the reimbursement only, think their free meal commands incredible reports. The theory is that it's a free meal but it actually costs you a hell of a lot of time and more often than not, you have to order the cheapest things on the menu to stay within budget, which in a posh place makes you feel like a right idiot!
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all!0 -
Finished at last - last MS this morning, now just have to write it up!

I think this is the issue - I've had them on the phone a number of times asking me to do particular branches of greasy burger and I've declined as I suspect they know who I am - it's not worth the uncomfortable visit for the pittance they pay, even with maximum premium!
Their reply is "it doesn't matter as the shop hasn't said anything to us" - which roughly translates as "greasy burger is a massive contract for us and we'd rather fill the assignments up than actually tell the company how pointless the Mystery Shops are"!
I keep getting international phone calls (always GAP) and ignoring them - at the minute I can't be 4rsed to tell them exactly why I don't want their crappy greasy jobs anymore!
If you are the only one asking for a receipt then give in a report for the same time, of course they can identify you. it isn't quantim physics to know who you are.
I have also complained to them to be able to use a card to pay, and in basic words told them if the company don't want to pay me, and use the cctv as incriminating evidence against me, I don't really give a rat's wotsits.
I should imagine my rant is now over too! hahaha!:rotfl:0 -
With regards to no pineapple on the pizza jobs, the one I visited on Saturday had pineapple as part of the salad bowl choice. So we picked some of this and added it to the pizza when it arrived.
I have another pizza one to do tomorrow. However, I have just read the brief and it is for the express version. I have been on their website to check a menu but it is totally different from the hut version. The briefing says to order a starter, a salad bowl, a main course, and drink(s) for up to two people. This is similar to the hut one but the express one doesnt have a salad bowl on the menu, the starter and main courses are quite expensive.
I have emailed GAP asking for clarification on this, but haven't had a reply yet. I have also tried rearranging it for a later date (awaiting clarification), but tomorrow is the last date for it to be carried out.
Has anyone done an express one before? What would you suggest I order?0 -
