Maximising income - Mystery Shopping? Surveys? (Part Three)

Most of us have worked hard to get good at this job so whilst we are helpful we are not keen to hand on a plate information to people not willing to do the legwork too.
Anyway keep reading and I am sure you will find people happy to answer specific queries you have.
I didn't even dare to ask my first question before I had completed reading the whole thread - which was still part one! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Anyway, there are loads more companies out of there. But personally I would never mention them (as in "the better ones") on a public forum like this one, inviting even more competition into an already saturated market. The ones which are displayed in the first post are good to start with, to learn some lessons and to decide if people want to continue.
Another important thing which should be pointed out again ... if you do only one job as a mystery shopper and it's not for a PAYE company (and there are less and less of them around!) you will have to register as self-employed and do a tax return at the end of the tax year.0 -
I think the best bit about this thread, is all of it.
But in a weeks time there will be another 10 pages and it will continue to grow and people will no longer read it all. Then start asking the same questions again and again. Just like on the mortgages board which is much more active than here (my usual place as I help people there with their finances).
I dont think I can read all of it but will try. I am now somewhere on page 20. I lost the page because I had to talk my mom through on the phone how to use her favorites.0 -

Did you send them an email or use the contact form? I thought I'd seen ones before which needed entrance to somewhere and the entrance was covered. If its a few weeks away then that should give them time to reply to you even at GAP's somewhat relaxed pace. If you have mailed already then try again. It took me three on my first time to get through to them! Now would be a good time to try as they seem to have just come back to work judging by job releases on the site.0 -

I know it does repeat a bit but people don't mind answering the same questions again to a certain extent.
If you have signed up with GAP they have some good training materials which take you through whats needed for each type of shop and make sure you are prepared. Their reports are also fairly simple. Take one of the tests for them and select a job to get a feel.
The first job I think is always nerve wracking. I would try one without timings to do as those give you just that bit much to think about on the first time. Go for one close to home so you aren't going out of your way as the fee will probably not be worth it otherwise. You can always go back into most places with an excuse if you miss something or if allowed take someoneelse who can keep an eye out too for details such as name badges.0 -
Hiya,
Can anyone tell me when the GAP pay date is please? My first job was at the beginning of Feb with them, so im nor sure exactly when to expect to be paid!

When I started MSing, the thread (this one's predecessor) was just as long if not longer  but I felt reading it gave me a really good insight into how it all works and what to look out for.
This was totally in mind when I wrote the OP of this thread and spent a lot of time working on it (much to my girlfriend's annoyance!) - not that I want praise for it but I also think it would be great if people kept me updated as to what the OP could include - ideas like this from newbies is perhaps the most valuable although I don't agree that naming the better companies and the ones with most jobs is appropriate; as said before, it's just too generalised.
As I say, keep me updated if you want something added, that goes for everyone! :beer:0 -

OH GOD nothing from GAP!
Late for the SECOND month....
Fingers crossed, I'm not going to blame them yet, as nothing at all has happened in my bank acc since before Easter. Not even any debits!!!! I guess the staff this side of the pond have to process things, as well as the staff in Oz. I'll start saying rude words if nothing is in by this time tomorrow......:pEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
