They are certainly not worth you upsetting yourself or loosing sleep over.
Only a person without feelings would not be upset. You clearly have feelings. I certainly won't contact them until I feel calmer and probably won't bother anyway. It has upset my wife too. We were to go away for a few days but she has gone to relatives alone whilst I spent my time trying to work out how to do this job.0 -

Ahhh so we are talking about different companies!0

Hi Fat Man,
Sorry to hear about all your troubles - sounds horrendous! I think Leila1 was only trying to make you feel better by saying it's not worth worrying about - as she points out, she was in tears over one situation.
I don't know the company you're referring to, but have heard of people reapplying in 6 months or so time and being taken on again, so I know it's a real bummer at the moment and obviously making you feel upset, as it would do - no one wants to be "sacked", but at least as Leila1 points out there are other MS firms you can work for out there.
How awful that it's messed up your Easter as well, by not being able to go away. I think the best thing to do, as others have suggested is to leave it a while and then if you still want to take it up with them, do, but if not just use other firms or if you really still want to work for them, then reapply sometime down the line.
Keep smiling!0 -
I am sorry to hear about your problems with an MS company, fatman. I am sure you will feel better in a week or two. I have never really had a problem with an MS company unless I received bad customer service, in which case the person who gave me bad service claimed they knew I was a MS!
I am doing phone surveys for one MS company now but that brings its own complaints from people I call. I speak to many moaning people each day.
But to be sacked from your work because you could not get in contact with anyone for help is completely heartless. Maybe someone else at the company will admit the company's mistake and re-instate you.
Don't dwell on it too long.0 -
I've taken 3 jobs with Gap for Tomorrow. These will be my first MS jobs. When I was accepting the jobs I checked their timeframe and they seemed to be for store opening times but now that I am looking through these assignment details the timeframe seem to be more specific. I can still do 2 but one is after 9pm and quite far which I cant do.
Firstly will I be penalised for cancelling this at such late stage?
Secondly another job requires me to pay by debit card but my HSBC one isnt in the list of verified ones. I would need to use a family members card for this assignment, will that cause any problems when it comes to reimbursement?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Yes, you probably WILL be penalised, as their system is quite inflexible. However, it is worth emailing them to explain what happened, pointing out to them gently that it was their fault. I have sometimes had personal replies to my emails, and I think they do appreciate it when people explain! P.S. If you could do it at another time, point this out to them as it might help them out.
Using a family member's card should not pose a problem. I have done this in the past, using my husband's card in a busy coffee shop with great trepidation (in his absence) - as I suspected, the staff were far too busy to notice. (I had to do this as someone had been making merry with my own card in Poland!!! - identity theft - so I suddenly didn't have a card. I have now set up a special account for emergencies, and use this almost exclusively for MSing.)
Shoppers will note from the above that I am quite happy to help with answers to 'new' queries, but personally I think that this thread is NOT too long to read through if new shoppers want to get free good advice and do a new job. It's a lot shorter than many of the job briefings the companies send through and a lot more informative :rotfl:Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Thank you everyone for your support. I am somewhat over retirement age and have never been fired from any job in my life before. I do this work to supplement a meagre pension.
I have been looking at this site for some time now and signed up with another company a few weeks ago thanks to all the great information you have provided. As one gets older (and less mobile) it's good to know that it is still possible to use the internet to work from home.
I knew nothing about phone surveys until I came here but I now have the opportunity to work for maybe 2-3 years to pay for holidays. This site has already helped to reduce my outgoings on gas, electric, phone and internet bills and what little savings I have has now gone into high-interest tax-free accounts.
I don't usually wear my heart on my sleeve and my wife will soon be back so I will sign-off now but thanks again for your wonderful support.0 -

Hi fazzy, if you can't do the job, then cancel it ASAP so they can try and find someone else for it. I don't know whether or not they'll penalise you....I don't think they do.
It'll be fine if you use a family member's card (withg their permission, lol!); or can you pay with cash.......you can for some of 'those' jobs.0 -
I agree - I've cancelled a couple with Gap for one reason or another and they don't appear to hold it against me.
I've a few cancelled ones showing on my account - one I tried to do too soon after previously doing that place and rather than just rejecting it, I accepted it in my basket and then it appeared as cancelled / rejected immediately. There were recently 3 that were cancelled for me, as they'd been taken over after I'd selected them, so they show as cancelled / rejected too and the couple I've cancelled myself. I don't think anyone looks too closely at this, so wouldn't worry.0
